The player in the under-the-gun position raised it up to 600, and the action was folded to Oliver Speidel. The Aussie Millions Main Event champion called in late position, after which both blinds, Oliver Gill and Cameron Angus, called.
The flop brought out , and the action was checked to Speidel. He bet 1,500 and Gill folded. Angus called from the big blind, and the initial raiser called as well.
On the turn the popped up, and once again it was checked to Speidel. He eyed his opponent's stacks, and threw out a big 5,000-chip bet. Angus thought about it for a while, and made the call. The initial raiser tanked as well, but he ended eventually folded.
The river was the , and Angus checked once again. Speidel double checked his cards, and checked. He turned over , but was beaten by Angus' .
Angus slow playes his hand, but Speidel didn't take another stab at the pot on the river. Speidel is slightly below the starting stack, while Angus is up to 44,000 chips.
A nice little hand has played out over on our night's tough table, with Kristian Lunardi and Tom Grigg bumping heads. We arrived at the table with around 2,000 already in the pot and with a flop showing. Grigg was on the button, while Lunardi was in the big blind.
Lunardi checked here and Grigg bet 1,225. Lunardi then check-raised to 3,750 and Grigg made the call.
An hit the turn and after a long time thinking, Lunardi bet 4,300. Grigg opted to let his hand go here and Lunardi raked in the pot. Despite losing that hand, Grigg is still sitting behind one of the largest stacks in the room. Lunardi is comfortable, sitting with around the starting stack.
ANZPT Sydney winner Michael Kanaan just took down a nice pot against Emanuel Seal. Kanaan raised to 525 under the gun, and the action got folded to Seal in the small blind. Seal opted to three-bet to 1,825, and Kanaan called.
The flop brought out , and Seal bet 2,800. Kanaan gave it some thought, and raised it up to 7,100. Seal hesitated, and seemed to be close to making the call, but he ended up laying his hand down.
This event is the last chance for players to grab the ever-important player of the year points. What's even more important about this tournament is that the points are valued at 1.5 due to the higher buy-in. One of the players in the room who started the day with the best chance to finish up as the ANZ Player of the Year is Anthony Aston. Currently Aston is sitting at the top of the leader board, with Mishel Anunu and Didier Guerin close behind. However, Aston will now have to watch on from the sidelines, as he has recently been eliminated from this tournament.
We didn't catch all the action, but we did see his short-stack all in preflop holding against the of an opponent. No help came on the board and Aston was sent packing.
Aston will now be watching on with baited breath, hoping that his nearest rivals on the leader board are eliminated soon.
Jackie Glazier admitted that the first levels of a poker tournament are not really her strong suit, but with 18,000 chips she has nothing to worry about just yet.
Glazier explained that a player with second pair kept calling her down, and caught up on the river. This pot, just like the next one, ended up costing her around 10,000 chips.
On the other big hand Glazier flopped a pair and a flush draw, but Tom Grigg made top two pair.
If there was one player who Kristian Lunardi, Jackie Glazier, Brendon Rubie and Tom Grigg didn't want to join their table who would it be? If you answered, Jay "SEABEAST" Kinkade, then you would be correct. Kinkade has recently taken his seat on Grigg's direct left. The sickness of that table continues to grow.
Also being noticed in the field after the break are Jarred Graham and the 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event champion, Oliver Speidel .
