Team Pros Rumble

We arrived at Table 25 with a {a-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{j-Spades} flop out on the felt and with Team PokerStars Pros Angel Guillen and Bryan Huang rumbling in a pot, along with Michael Egan and one other opponent.

Egan, out of the small blind, led for 1,325 here and Guillen called in early positon. Huang also made the call, on the direct left of Guillen, and with one other player out of the way, the dealer would turn over an {8-Spades} on the turn.

All three players checked the turn, ushering in a {q-Hearts} on the river. This time Egan would check, Guillen would bet 3,800 and Huang would call. Egan let his hand go and Guillen turned over {10-Spades}{7-Spades}, which was enough to send Huang's cards into the muck and the pot to Guillen.

Depsite winning this hand, Guillen hasn't had a good start to the day, currently sitting with around 18,000.

Rapid Comeback For Zheng

Jackson Zheng started the day off by losing a serious pot against Nurlan Boobekov, but that's already forgotten since he's up to over 50,000 chips.

Zheng explained how he busted a player after winning two all ins against him in back-to-back hands.

On the first hand someone raised under the gun after which Zheng's opponent three-bet to 1,500. Zheng called on the button with {Q-}{Q-}, and the initial raiser folded. The flop brought out {7-}{4-}{2-}, and Zheng called the 2,500 continuation-bet. The turn was a {Q-}, and Zheng faced a 3,300-chip bet. He decided to move all in for 14,000, and his opponent called with {10-}{10-}. The river was a blank, and Zheng doubled up.

On the very next hand the same player raised in middle position, and Zheng called from the cutoff with {10-}{10-}. The flop brought out {J-}{7-}{6-}, and Zheng called 1,200. The turn was a {10-}, giving Zheng another set. His opponent moved all in for 13,000, and Zheng called immediately. He was up against a set of sixes, and after two very unlucky hands this player got eliminated.

Benton Steaming, Im Winning

Aaron Benton is not happy, and he just made that very clear after losing a serious pot against Team PokerStars Pro Vivian Im.

"I'm running really bad today," Benton yelled for everyone at his table to hear. He explained how he flopped top pair with {A-}{Q-}, but ran into a set of aces. And as mentioned in the first paragraph, he also lost some chips to Im.

Im raised to 500 under the gun, and the action was folded to Benton who three-bet to 1,500 from the cutoff. The action got back to Im, and she called.

The flop brought out {J-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Spades} and Im lead out for 2,000. Benton called, and the turn was the {8-Diamonds}. Im lead again, and fired out 3,500. Benton didn't hesitate, and called once again.

On the river the {9-Clubs} hit, and Im checked to Benton who quickly checked behind. Im showed {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for a full house, and Benton tabled his {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

Moments later we heard that Benton got his stack all in with {10-}{10-} versus a player with {A-}{A-}. The board ran out {10-}{6-}{7-}{8-}.....{9-}, and Benton chopped that one up. Even after all this crazy action the Aussie still smiled and laughed, since he's still in the event.

Huntly On The Move

Gordon Huntly, who won the 2012 ANZPT Sydney Main Event, has had a good start here in Melbourne, recently taking own a nice little pot that went like this.

We arrived at the table with a {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{a-Spades} flop showing and with Huntly, in the big blind, checking to his opponent who bet 3,500. Huntly called and a {6-Hearts} hit the turn.

This time Huntly checked and then raised to 3,500 after the player bet 1,600. Huntly's opponent called and a {3-Spades} completed the board on the river. Huntly led for 5,100 here and a call from his opponent would prompt him to turn over {j-Hearts}{3-Hearts} - the flush enough to scoop up the pot.

Out of The Shadow of Brothers

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

"You've got to get out of you're brother's shadow," quipped Tony Hachem. "I got out of mine."

Hachem said the above little tidbit after he and Martin Comer played out a hand on a {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{10-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} board. The pot only ended up being small and the two players were throwing out banter after Comer had slow played his flopped straight, holding {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. Hachem managed to win the pot holding {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for the larger straight, but he didn't get too much action.

"Nine-eight off?" continued Hachem. "What are you doing?"

"I was in the blinds," snapped back Comer.

"You've being playing blind for thirty years!" threw back Hachem.

Guillen Drops Some

With the board reading {2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{K-Clubs}, the action was on Team PokerStars Pro Angel Guillen. The player on the button had bet 5,000, and Guillen tanked for a bit before making the call.

The button turned over {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}, and Guillen slowly let go of his hand. The Mexican dropped down to 21,000 chips, but it's still very early in the day.

Great Value For Boobekov

During the last hand of the first level Nurlan Boobekov managed to pick up a very nice pot against Jackson Zheng. The action started with a player in early position who opted to limp. Boobekov raised to 500, and the player on the button called. Zheng was in the big blind, and he committed the extra chips, as did the limper.

Four players saw the flop, {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. With 2,050 in the pot Zheng lead out for 1,200. The pre-flop limper folded, after which Boobekov put in a raise to 2,400. The button folded, and Zheng quickly called.

On the turn the {7-Clubs} popped up, and both players checked. The river was the {7-Diamonds}, and the board was double paired. Zheng seemed done with the hand, and he quickly checked. Boobekov was not ready to go to showdown, as he fired out a 4,700-chip bet. Zheng threw in the call, and got shown {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

"Flush," the dealer announced as Zheng flicked his cards into the muck. Great value for Boobekov on this scary looking board, and he's one of the early chip leaders.
