Alner Flushed Out

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante
Tom Alner
Tom Alner

Reigning Macau Poker Cup champ "Baby" Tom Alner is the latest casualty here in the ACOP Main Event.

Alner had flopped a straight with {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts} on a {10-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{J-Clubs} flop, but after raising his opponent's bet to 10,500, Alner was then faced with a tough decision for his tournament life when his opponent moved all in. Alner had another 15,000 behind and wanted to find a fold, but after several minutes of think time, he splashed the chips into the middle to discover the bad news. He was virtually drawing dead as his opponent showed {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the flush.

The {J-Spades} and {2-Spades} completed the board to send Alner to an unfortunate exit.

Gipson Over the Century Mark

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

Keith Gipson started the day with just 17,725, which was about half the starting stack. Well, it's been a good day for Mr. Gipson as he now sits with 115,000!

Much of that came in a recent hand where there was around 33,000 in the pot and a board reading {9-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts}. The player in the small blind checked and Gipson took the opportunity to bet 13,500. The small blind called and then checked once again on the {6-Clubs} river. Gipson grabbed his remaining chips and committed them to the pot, which put his opponent, who had about 35,000 behind, to the test.

The small blind thought for a little over a minute before conceding the hand to Gipson.

Fan Gets Active

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante
Terry Fan
Terry Fan

The action folded round to Yat Wai Cheng in the cutoff and he opened to 1,300. Terry Fan then three-bet to 3,500 from the button as the blinds folded.

Cheng responded by making it 10,000 to go only to have Fan slide out a stack of chips amounting to 41,500 while leaving himself roughly 2,500 behind.

Cheng went into the tank for several minutes before eventually relinquishing his hand to slip to roughly 150,000 as Fan climbed to 54,000.
