Jones Puts Opponents to the Test

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

The action started with Jay Tan opening to 1,300 from middle position, and finding a call from the player on the button, as well as Lacey Jones on the big blind. The flop came down {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, and Jones checked. Tan threw out a continuation bet of 2,100, before being met with a raise to 4,200 from the player on the button. Jones went into the tank for a minute, before announcing all-in.

Tan asked for a count, and when she found out the total was 31,000; she also went into the tank, before eventually folding her hand. The player on the button didn’t take as long to make up his mind, as the cards went into the muck shortly after.

“You tell me later what you had?” asked the player on the button. Jones obliged raking in the pot, as Tan also spoke up.

“I thought you said call,” said Tan, after she misheard the player on the button announcing his fold. “I was excited to see!”

A nice pot for Jones, who moves up to 43,000, as Tan drops down to 35,000 in chips.

Sixth Gets Hasse

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

The player in late position opened to 1,200 before facing a raise to 3,200 from Julian Hasse in the cut-off. He quickly made a four-bet to 7,400 and waited as Hasse went into the tank. A minute passed before a five-bet of 12,500 went into the middle. Not hesitating, Hasse’s opponent moved all-in for an additional 20,000 in chips, which was enough to see his hand go into the muck.

Table 1

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

We just witnessed a large hand occur over on Table 1. It started with Hirotoshi Nakabo opening to 1,500 from under the gun, as four players called the bet to see the flop come down {J-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. The player on the big blind checked, as did Nakabo, before the player in late position bet out 4,800. The hijack folded, Pablo Lee called from the cut-off, and the big blind folded, before the decision was back on Nakabo. He thought for a minute, before grabbing a handful of chips, and throwing out a raise to 21,000. The player in late position just flatted the bet, bringing a chuckle from Lee in the cut-off. He moved all in, splashing the pot, for an additional 4,500 in chips. Nakabo, with 5,000 behind, agonised over the decision for what seemed liked 5 minutes. No one called time, but he eventually convinced himself to lay down the hand. The other player called, and the cards were tabled.

Lee: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

Lee was in great shape to almost triple up, and although the {6-Diamonds} fell on the floor to give his opponent a flush draw, the {Q-Spades} on the river completed the board to see him race up to 80,000 in chips.

Huang Out Just Before the Break

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

In the space of a few hands, PokerStars Team Pro Bryan Huang has been eliminated from the tournament. Huang was more than happy to fill us in on his demise.

In the first hand, Huang opened to 1,400, before his opponent moved all-in for his last 12,000 in chips. Huang made the call and tabled his {a-}{q-}, which were behind to his opponent’s {9-}{9-}. The flop came {2-}{4-}{8-}, but when the {a-} came on the turn, he took the lead.

“I had 7-9,” said one player, leaving his opponent one out to win the hand. Unfortunately for Huang, his opponent would hit that one-out, to see his chip stack halved.

In the final hand, Huang again opened to 1,400, and watched as Bawod Hyunshik Yun raised to 4,000. Huang then moved all-in for his last 12,000 and was called as both players tabled their cards.

Huang: {J-}{J-}
Yun: {A-}{K-}

Huang was in great shape to double, until the dreaded {a-} fell on the river, sending him to the rail.

Rossiter Gone

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

We just witnessed Jeff Rossiter step up from his table, and make his way out of the tournament floor. Unfortunately for Rossiter, he'll be unable to replicate the good form that saw him earn a second place finish in the GuangDong Asia Millions Main Event just over a week.

Li Doubles Through Wah

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

We arrived at the table to see Sixiao “Juicy” Li bet out from the small blind with the flop reading {3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. Yap Jun Wah raised from the cut-off, but was met with an all-in for almost 20,000 from Li, which he called, as the cards were shown.

Li: {Q-Spades}{9-Spades}
Wah: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}

Li out-flopped Wah, and held, as the board ran out the {2-Hearts} and {A-Spades}.
