Day 3 Started

Welcome Back to Day 3 of APPT Macau!

Yan Cui will start Day 3 as the chip leader
Yan Cui will start Day 3 as the chip leader

Welcome back for what will no doubt be an exciting Day 3, here at the 2013 PokerStars.net APPT Macau Main Event from the picturesque City of Dreams.

We say exciting, because 49 will return today on the money-bubble! That’s right; there were no exceptions last night as play ended right at the end of the seven levels of play. Will short-stacks Tobin Ryall and Mei Ngok be able to survive with their five big-blinds, or will someone else narrowly miss out on some hard earned cash.

Coming into today as the chip leader will be Yan Cui, who after a big hand against Roger Spets, never looked back, as he stayed atop the rest of the back. Close behind will be one of the three remaining females in the field, Jay Tan, and also David Man, who proved they will be a force to be reckoned with, after dominant displays over Day 2.

Others to keep an eye are PokerStars Team Pro Vivian Im, Day 1b chip leader Tomaz Yip, 2013 APT Philippines Main Event winner Trung Tran and 2013 ANZPT Sydney Main Event winner Dinesh Alt.

Be sure to stay tuned, as the action will kick off at 3:00pm local time, about 30-minute from now.

Big Stacks Clash

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The first big hand of the day didn’t involve any of the short stacks. It started with Dinesh Alt opening to 10,000 from under the gun, before Trung Tran raised to 24,500. Alt snap-called, as both saw the flop come down {4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. Alt check-called a bet of 25,000, before both players casually checked when the {4-Spades} fell on the turn. The {6-Diamonds} completed the board, as Alt checked once more. Tran thought for a minute, before announcing all in, which had Alt covered.

A few minutes passed before Alt made the call. The remaining tables finished off their hands, before Tran tabled his {A-Spades}{2-Clubs}. Alt then confidently tabled his {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a rivered flush, as he survived the money bubble.

Li Plays it Safe

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Sixiao “Juicy” Li limped in from the small blind, before Manuel Blaschke raised to 12,000. Li made the call, as the flop came down {3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. Li check-called a continuation bet of 11,500, and then did the same for 18,500 when the {A-Hearts} fell on the turn. The river produced the {Q-Hearts}, and Li checked for the third time. Blaschke tanked for over a minute, before throwing out a bet of 24,500, which Li eventually called.

Blaschke tabled his {A-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for top pair, but lost the hand when Li showed her {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} for a set of sixes.

Tian Doubles

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The action started with Kosei Ichinose opening from under the gun, before he was met with a forceful all in from Hao Tian on the button. The count was 60,000 in chips, and Ichinose made the call, as both players tabled their cards.

Ichinose: {A-Spades}{2-Clubs}
Tian: {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{J-Spades}{Q-Spades} to see Tian double with his full-house, as he jumped from his seat to celebrate with his rail directly behind him.

Lau Also Survives

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Matt Carter opened to 8,000 from the button, and was called by Andrew Scott and Kwok Man Lau in the blinds. The flop came down {8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, and the blinds checked. Carter threw out a continuation bet of 10,000 as Scott got out of the way. Lau quickly moved all in for his last24,000 in chips, as Carter made the call.

Carter: {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Lau: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

Lau was in great shape after flopping top set, and held as the board ran out the {10-Spades} and {6-Diamonds}
