2013 APPT Macau
The final Day 1 flight has come to a close at the 2013 PokerStars.net APPT Macau Main Event and it was an exciting day of play which did not disappoint. There were an impressive 204 players who turned out for seven levels of play today and by the end it was Hong Kong's Tomaz Yip who bagged up the most chips with 133,500.
Close behind him, and also reaching the six-figure club include Yun Cui (109,500) and Bjorn Li (122,300) who held the lead at some point during the remaining two levels of play.
The combined Day 1 flights made for a presentable 388-player field – a great total considering most players would’ve made the trek over to the states to compete in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
Of those players, there will be approximately 170 players returning for Day 2 and will be vying for their share of the HKD $8,656,280 prize pool.
Some well known players to take their seats throughout the day included recent GuangDong Asia Millions Main Event second place finisher Jeff Rossiter, PokerStars Team Pro Bryan Huang and local celebrity Alex Niu. Unfortunately for these three, their day would be cut short.
Returning tomorrow will be a collection of notables including PokerStars Team Pro Vivian Im, Jay Tan, Lacey Jones, Didier Guerin, Emanuel Seal, Jordan Westmorland and Bawod Hyunshik Yun who were all able to bag up various amounts of chips.
Day 2 is set to kick off at 3:00 p.m. local time on Friday as PokerNews will again be on the floor in the magnificent City of Dreams Macau!
With the clock stopped with 15-minutes to go, the tournament director has advised that the remaining players will see four more hands before the end of the day.
The player under the gun opened to 2,000, before being met with an all-in for 5,000 from the player in middle position. The action then folded to Errolyn Strang on the big blind, who moved all in for her last 21,000 in chips. The big blind got out of the way, as the cards were shown.

We just witnessed Jeff Rossiter step up from his table, and make his way out of the tournament floor. Unfortunately for Rossiter, he'll be unable to replicate the good form that saw him earn a second place finish in the GuangDong Asia Millions Main Event just over a week.
