Dementev Scores Big Double

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Andrei Dementev defended his big blind against the raise of Bryan Oliver and then check-raised the {9-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop from 25,000 to 65,000. Oliver moved all in with the superior stack and Dementev called off for a stack of around 280,000 in total prior to the start of the hand.

Dementev had the flush draw with {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} while Oliver's over pair of queens were immediately shattered on the {K-Diamonds} turn. The meaningless {8-Clubs} river was just a formality and the huge dent into the stack of the Colombian let him drop to 15 big blinds.

11 Levels For Day 2

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Tournament staff has confirmed that a total of 11 levels will be played today. Since eight 60-minute levels have already passed by, we are in for another three of them unless the final table is reached prior to this. That scenario seems rather unlikely though.

Adding Payout Step Number Three

All of the below players received a payday of PHP 104,750 and have been eliminated before the break.

Level: 18

Blinds: 4,000/8,000

Ante: 1,000

Break!

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The players have scurried off on a 10-minute break with Level 17 now behind them. According to the clock there are 45 of them still in it.

Wang Busts to Olsson

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

In the very last hand of the level, Shih Ciao Wang four-bet shoved for around 180,000 in chips with the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} and Douglas Olsson made the call with {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} for just under half of his remaining stack. The {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} improved the hand of the Swede while the {A-Clubs} turn gave some hope to Wang.

It was the {7-Hearts} river that sent him to the rail.

Deja Vu on Table 24

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Just like a few minutes ago, Andrei Dementev raised and called the three-bet shove of a short stack for 10 big blinds. It was Chulwoo Park at risk with the {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} out of the small blind and Dementev had a flip, holding {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}. The Russian immediately outflopped his opponent on {4-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and stayed ahead on the {10-Spades} turn and {3-Hearts} river.

Adrian Brion
Adrian Brion

Bryan Oliver raised and called the three-bet shove of Adrian Brion for the last 10 big blinds of the Filipino with the {K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. Brion was at risk with {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and the American world traveler, who now calls Colombia his home, improved on the {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} board.

The Big Stacks

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Here's how the chip leaders stand as Level 17 comes to a close:

Tanaka's Kamikaze Move Fails

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Shinobu Tanaka
Shinobu Tanaka

Shinobu Tanaka just open-shoved for more than 160,000 from the hijack and Terry Fan reshoved from the button to isolate successfully. The Japanese tabled the {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Fan's dominating {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} won the pot after a board of {A-Spades}{2-Spades}{9-Clubs}{J-Spades}{J-Hearts}.
