Finkenrath Busts Chen

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Ching Wei Chen opened the action with a raise from under the gun and Iona Christopher Finkenrath three-bet to 25,000 from one seat over. Chen then moved all in and as soon as the call came and he spotted the {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts} of the opponent, he let out a loud "oh ####" before tabling his {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}.

The board ran out {5-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and that was it for the player from Chinese Taipei.

Liew Ships Stack to Jeon

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

"How can I fold there with my stack?" Jack Liew asked to himself and the rest of the table before exiting the tournament area. He had defended the big blind against the under-the-gun raise of Seung Soo Jeon and then got his 25 big blinds in with flopped two pair only to run into the flopped set of Jeon. Nothing happened anymore on turn and river and Liew headed to the payout desk.

The call then came with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and Chua had a flip with {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} while Winfred Yu said he had folded ace-queen as well.

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{J-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and Lua went from hero to zero.

Winfred Yu: From Almost Zero to Hero

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Winfred Yu

Poker King Club President and Asian high-stakes legend Winfred Yu is having quite the day.

He came in with less than 20,000 chips and a chair - One of the shortest stacks in the room. Now, after making a set to bust yet another player in a string of half a dozen or more over the past few levels, he's closing in on 600,000.

He fired two bullets on Day 1a before eventually earning that short stack. Then tried to take advantage of the best stack forward re-entry policy here at APPT Manila by firing again on Day 1b to no avail.

It turned out all he needed was the few chips he'd bagged Thursday and a little bit of a heater to earn a spot among the chip leaders now deep into Level 17 and well past the money bubble.

Im Slips, Falls On Ng's Quads

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Hong Kong's Wai Lun Ng raised, Vivian Im three-bet and when Ng called they ended up heads-up with some 50,000 in the middle.

The flop came {j-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and after Ng checked, Im bet 25,000. Ng flatted and the turn brought the {j-Diamonds}. Both players checked before the {9-Clubs} river came down. Ng took the lead this time, firing out 68,000 and Im went deep into the tank.

After a good three minutes she emerged flipping a single chip in the middle signifying a call. Ng flipped over {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} having flopped a set, turned a boat and rivered quads. Im mucked having fallen down to a little above average now.

Yu With Some Big Blind Magic

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Jessie Leonarez opened from under the gun and the player on the button called, so did Winfred Yu in the big blind. After a flop of {K-Clubs}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop, there was some betting action and only Yu and Leonarez remained in the hand to see the high roller expert shove the {10-Clubs} turn for 135,500.

Leonarez tanked for a lot of time before making the call with {K-Spades}{J-Spades} and got shown the big blind special of Yu: {7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. It was the blank {Q-Spades} river that awarded the huge pot to Yu and Sam Ng even took a selfie of him with the winning hole cards.

Kim had a stack of 77,500 and Noda still needed more than a minute to call, even apologizing to the table for taking so long.

Noda: {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}
Lua: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Kim: {Q-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {3-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts} and Lua tripled up.
