Last year’s PokerStars Festival Main Event set the record for the largest international tournament with a buy-in of ₱30,000 or more in the history of the Philippines, attracting 594 entrants with a buy-in of ₱55,000, generating a ₱28.8 million prize pool. Uday Bansal walked away with the win and ₱4,676,000 ($92,747).

This was the record until the Manila Megastack 9, which ran in May 2018, beat this with 696 entries, though with a lower buy-in of ₱30,000 and a prize pool of ₱18,228,240. Ignatius Meng conquered them all and took home ₱4,000,000 ($77,173) and a PSPC Platinum Pass worth $30,000!

Meng is actually playing the Main Event and will be looking to add another win to his list. If he does happen to win, the PSPC Platinum Pass would actually be handed over to the runner-up as only one PSPC Pass can be awarded to each player.

So with the 604 Day 1a entrants and the 623 Day 1b entrants (with 1b late reg still open until 1:15 am) for combined entries of 1,227 (which is not the final number yet), it means the 2018 APPT Manila Main Event has now set a new record which is almost double of the previous record!
