Day 1 Completed
The first day of 2019 Asia Pacific Poker Tour Jeju had its own adventure, as the Super High Roller that was originally scheduled for the day got canceled and replaced with a ₩6,000,000 High Roller event. The new event started almost four hours later than its predecessor and drew 32 total entries, concluding after nine 40-minutes levels.
China's Changyang Liu emerged as the chip leader after winning a huge pot two hands before the end of the day; Liu's pocket queens giving him a middle set on the flop, while his opponent was holding ace-queen for top two, and all the chips ended up in the middle. Liu's set held, catapulting him to 269,100in chips, which was enough to grab the chip lead from former frontrunner Jiang Chen.
However, Chen, who had an amazing festival during 2019 APPT Korea a couple of months ago, managed to final table two events, the Main Event (4th) and the Super High Roller (2nd) for a combined prize of ₩186,582,000 (~$161,000). This time around the Chinese player ended Day 1 with 164,900, good enough for second place in today's chip counts.
Twenty-three unique players comprised the field and there were nine re-entries, bringing the total Day 1 entries up to 32. The champion of re-entries was Huidong Gu, the only player from Macau in the field, who was also the only player with two re-entries and he still didn't manage to advance to Day 2.
Registration will remain open until the start of Day 2, at 1 p.m. local time (GMT+9) on Sunday, June 23, and this is when the total prize pool and payouts will be announced.

The clock has been paused at 14:22 before the end of Level 9 and the chipleader of the event so far, Changyang Liu, asked to pick the number of the day's last hands.
He picked the number 5, so the players will play five more hands before the end of the day. Stay tuned for the names and stacks of advancing players.
Changyang Liu won a huge pot versus Junjien Wang sending him to the rail, while he took the chip lead for Day 1.
It was discovered after the fact, but Wang held ace-queen on a flop that gave him top two pair, while Liu was holding queens for middle set.
All the chips went in the middle and the turn and river didn't change anything, meaning Liu is near 300,000 chips and sits atop the counts.

There was over 60,000 in the middle of the table in a heads-up pot between chip leader Jiang Chen and opponent Wei Zheng, with the action picked up on the river on a board reading .
Zheng had fired out a bet after the last card, hit, with Chen calling so quickly it was impossible to determine the amount of the bet size. Chen was clearly confident in his read, tabling before Zheng could reveal his hand, with the latter forlornly pitching his cards into the muck, meaning the rich get richer.

Jiang Chen | 270,000 | 30,000 |
Wei Zheng | 65,000 | 16,000 |
Hao He was found all in preflop and in a difficult spot, with versus his opponents .
The board came and the river was one of the few outs left for He to double up. His stack was 39,000, so after this double-up he has a healthy stack of 80 big blinds.
The structure of the event offers very good chances for deepstack poker, since even players who register in the penultimate level of Day 1 will start with 50 big blinds.
