Suzuki Triples on the River

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

There was a three-way all in between Christopher Mateo, Masayuki Suzuki and a third player on a {9-Spades}{a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop.

The third player showed {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a pair and a flush draw and was behind the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} top pair of Suzuki.

However, Mateo held {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and was ahead with two pair. The turn was the {q-Clubs} and as Suzuki called the king, the {k-Clubs} came on the river.

Mateo thumped the table with his fist in apparent frustration, before a tablemate reminded him that he would win the side pot.

Suzuki tripled to almost double starting stack as a result.

Hilberts Doubles Up

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Thijs Hilberts was up against a player's shove for his tournament life, with the board reading {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

Hilberts finally made the call with 14,700 behind him, and he was far ahead with {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} against his opponent's {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}.

Hilberts could lose only from the {8-Clubs}, and it was the {5-Hearts} that completed the board on the river.
