Garberg Dents Kim

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Heads-up to the {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop, chip leader Nam Hyung Kim checked and Markus Garberg bet 11,000. Kim check-raised to 33,000 and the Norwegian called.

Kim then checked the {3-Clubs} on the turn and a bet worth 20,000 by Garberg won the pot. By losing this pot, Kim has lost the dominating spot at the top of the leaderboard as Renniel Galvez also chipped up a lot as of lately.

Backhouse Catches Phua Bluffing

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

In a battle of the blinds, Tzai Wei Phua bet the {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} turn for 25,000 to get called by Chris Backhouse. That led them to the {9-Spades} on the river and Phua then moved all-in with the far covering stack. Backhouse quickly called for the 70,500 he had behind and was shown the {a-Spades}{5-Spades} for a bluff by the Singaporean.

Backhouse had that beat with the {q-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for two pair and secured a double in the last level of the night.

Autran Jams Into Smiljkovic

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Three ways to the {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{q-Hearts} turn, Daniel Smiljkovic and Ceesvin Abdulla both checked. Jean-Robert Autran bet 26,000 and was called only by Smiljkovic. The {a-Spades} fell on the river and Smiljkovic checked again, then folded when Autran jammed.

Chang Felted by Garberg

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Yu Chung "Nevan" Chang was all-in before the flop with the {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and had one overcard at his disposal. Markus Garberg tabled the {k-Clubs}{k-Spades} and remained ahead throughout the {9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} board to hit the rail.

Shimabukuro Goes Runner Runner for a Double

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Takuya Shimabukuro was all-in for the last 43,000 and dominated by Robbie Schiffbauer as both players turned over a premium ace.

Takuya Shimabukuro: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Robbie Schiffbauer: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

The {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop gave both players the top pair and it was Shimabukuro who got there thanks to the {2-Hearts} turn and {3-Hearts} river.

"Write it down, a double for Sashimi," he joked with a big smile on the face.

Elul Departs Against Hayashi

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Down to the last 16,500 and in the under-the-gun position, Ori Elul moved all-in and the action folded all the way to Masamichi Hayashi on the button. He made it 45,000 to go and that isolated successfully.

Ori Elul: {a-Hearts}{2-Spades}
Masamichi Hayashi: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

No help arrived for Elul on the {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop and {k-Hearts} turn. The {5-Diamonds} river was another blank and the field was down to the final three tables already.

Smiljkovic Jams At the Wrong Time

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Vincent Huang raised it up in the cutoff and Masamichi Hayashi three-bet on the button. Daniel Smiljkovic cold four-bet jammed in the big blind and Huang folded while Hayashi called all-in.

Masamichi Hayashi: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Daniel Smiljkovic: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

The {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades} board was no threat for Hayashi as Smiljkovic took a big hit to his stack.

Lee Felted by Phua; Corkins Vanishes

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Hwany Lee defended out of the small blind and check-called a bet on the {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop by Tzai Wei Phua. After the {8-Clubs} turn, Phua upped his sizing to 1.5 times the pot and Lee check-called once more as they created a pot of around 100,000. Lee had some 70,000 behind to the {4-Diamonds} river on which Phua then jammed with the covering stack.

Lee went into the tank and tossed in a single chip for the call after around two minutes. Phua rolled over the {4-Clubs}{4-Spades} for quads and Lee exposed the {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts} before heading to the rail.

He was joined there by Hoyt Corkins, who raised all but the last few chips into a limp by Robbie Schiffbauer and then called all-in with the {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. Schiffbauer had the {a-Spades}{3-Spades} and had two diamonds and a gutshot to fear on the flop. The {a-Clubs} turn changeg nothing much as Schiffbauer made the top pair, and the river was a blank.

Elul Among the Shorter Stacks

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

On a completed board of {9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{j-Spades} with some 15,000 in the middle, Ori Elul bet 10,000. What followed was a raise to 35,000 by Eric Wasylenko and Elul instantly folded to leave himself with a short stack for the final two levels of the night.
