Chan Doubles Through Cao

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

On a completed board of {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, Chik Fatt Chan pushed all-in for 129,000 and was reluctantly called by Ngoc Anh Cao.

Chan only revealed the {8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} but it still beat his opponent, as Cao flicked his cards straight into the muck where they were unretrievable.

Phua Escapes Via Runner-Runner

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Tzai Wei Phua
Tzai Wei Phua

Tzai Wei Phua ended up all-in and at risk for 130,000 against Zdravko Duvnjak, who held the far superior stack.

Tzai Wei Phua: {a-Hearts}{5-Spades}
Zdravko Duvnjak: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

The {j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop had Phua on the ropes but he gained some equity with the {5-Hearts} turn. It was then the {10-Hearts} river that provided the fourth heart on the board and Phua sat back down.

No Spades for Erquiaga

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
David Erquiaga
David Erquiaga

The final two hands of the previous level brought some massive chip changes over on table one.

On a three-way flop of {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{9-Spades}, Valeriy Pak checked and Hoa Thinh Nguyen bet 14,000. David Erquiaga called on the button only for Pak to jam for nearly 200,000 in the big blind. Nguyen reluctantly folded and Erquiaga sigh-called after using a time bank.

Valeriy Pak: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
David Erquiaga: {k-Spades}{6-Spades}

The {6-Clubs} turn and {q-Clubs} river ensured the double for Pak while Erquiaga took a hit.

One more hand was to be played before the break and that dented the stack of Erquiaga further when he flipped with Paul Newey.

Paul Newey: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
David Erquiaga: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

The {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop gave Erquiaga middle pair and a gutshot. He added a flush draw with the {3-Spades} turn but bricked the {6-Clubs} river to be left very short. He is widely known as "Dave Spade" in the Filipino poker community but may have to change his alias now as the spades were no good.

Erquiaga was left with two and a half blinds for the new level and couldn't find a miracle comeback anymore.

Crawshaw Eliminated By Chan

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Hamish Crawshaw
Hamish Crawshaw

Hamish Crawshaw nursed a shorter stack into the money where he ultimately got it in against Chik Fatt Chan for the following showdown to emerge.

Hamish Crawshaw: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Chik Fatt Chan: {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

The {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop improved Crawshaw to a pair of kings but he was drawing dead on the {9-Hearts} turn to make the {j-Clubs} river a formality.

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Markus Garberg: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Chik Fatt Chan: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

The {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds} board improved Garberg to kings and sixes, which put a major dent into the stack of Chan.

Madsen Doubles Through Totsaponisad

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Lars Madsen
Lars Madsen

Lars Madsen had entered the day as the joint shortest stack an survived the bubble. He then pushed all-in for 36,000 and Suparerk Totsaponisad moved all-in over the top with a slightly bigger stack to isolate.

Lars Madsen: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Suparerk Totsaponisad: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The {j-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop saw Madsen vault out of his chair and the oldest trick in poker worked as he instantly improved with the {q-Diamonds} turn, then held after the {5-Spades} river.

Another Three Out in the Money

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Natalie Teh
Natalie Teh

Keita Minami was spotted on his way to the payout desk and Natalie Teh collected the pot.

The cards of Minami were already mucked while the board showed {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Teh had the winning hand with {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} for a set of fours. According to several players at the table, Minami had bet the turn and jammed the river with {a-}{5-} when he missed the straight draw and only made a pair of fives on a four-card straight board.

Florencio Campomanes was the next to fall when his {a-Spades}{9-Clubs} failed to hold up against chip leader Nam Hyung Kim's {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} and Daniel Smiljkovic followed suit moments later.

Nguyen First Casualty in the Money

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Duy Tung Nguyen had survived the money bubble with a shorter stack and then jammed it in with a suited king to get called by Yong Chen.

Duy Tung Nguyen: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Yong Chen: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

"Just chop it up," Nguyen joked and both players had a back door flush draw on the {10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop. The {7-Hearts} turn provided a freeroll to Chen which he hit with the {9-Hearts} river.
