De Guzman Wins a Monster

Renato De Guzman just took down a huge pot with pocket aces, going runner-runner for an ace-high flush. A player in mid-position opened the pot for a 1,100 raise and De Guzman bumped it to 3,900. The big blind cold-called the raise and the original better got out of the way.

The flop came {J-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Renato led the betting, making it 5,000 to go; his opponent called. The turn brought the {10-Hearts} and Renato opted to move all in for approximately 20,000. His opponent called with what chips he had left, amounting to about 17,000, and turned over {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for the second nuts; Renato then revealed his pocket aces - one of them being a heart.

Needing a heart to stay alive, help came in the form of the {J-Hearts}, giving Renato an ace-high flush and the 50,000+ pot. After the hand, De Guzman stacked up just over 67,000 in chips.
