Graeme Putt Eliminated

Graeme Putt Eliminated
Graeme Putt Eliminated
Just before the break, a short-stacked Graeme Putt moved all in for his last 3,000 holding the {A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Putt got action for David Tomanaga who held {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. Putt's situation went from bad to worse when Tomanaga flopped a set with the {J-Diamonds}. Putt failed to catch any of his runner-runner draws and was eliminated.

Alex Fitzgerald Doubles Through Joe Hachem

We caught up to this hand on the turn. The board read Q-T-4-4. With a decent amount of chips already in the pot, Alex Fitzgerald pushed his remaining stack of 12,950 across the line. Hachem, who had Fitzgerald well covered, made the call. The players showed:

Fitzgerald: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Hachem: {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

The dealer put down the {5-Spades} on the river which was no help to Hachem who is now down to 15,000 chips. Fitzgerald is back in the mix with about 34,000.

Andrew Scott Eliminated

Andrew Scott was eliminated when he raised all in on the turn with the board showing {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and was called by James Honeybone. Scott was in the lead with {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, but Honeybone had outs as he held the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. The {Q-Hearts} on the river was all that was needed to send the pot towards Honeybone and Scott to the rail. Honeybone is now sitting behind a stack of 51,000.

Yosh Nakano Eliminated

Action folded around to Yosh Nakano in the cutoff seat. Nakano raised to 3,000. Dan Schreiber, who had Nakano covered, moved all in from the small blind. Nakano called and the players tabled their hands.

Nakano: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Schreiber: {Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The flop was disaster for Nakano as it came down {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Spades}. The turn and river weren't much help either as they brought the {3-Diamonds} and {4-Diamonds} respectively. Dan Schreiber not only took down the pot, but increased his chip stack to 70,000 and sent Nakano to the rail.

Adam Kagin Picks Up Aces at the Perfect Time

Action folded around to Adam Kagin in late position who raised to 1,800. The player on the button re-raised to 5,000. Kagin re-rasied all in and the button called. The players showed:

Kagin: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}
Opponent: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

Kagin's Aces were best come showdown and he increased his stack to 33,000 and eliminated yet another player in the process.

Ziv Bachar Wins a Monster Pot

Uwe Brauckhoff raised to 1,500 from under the gun. Ziv Bachar called from early position as did the button and the small blind. The four players saw a flop of:

{A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}

Brauckhoff bet 3,000 and Bachar called. The other players folded and it was heads up to the turn which came the {Q-Hearts}. Brauckhoff bet 9,000 and Bachar moved all in for 15,000 more. Brauckhoff called and the players showed:

Brauckhoff: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Bachar: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

The river was the {7-Hearts} and Bachar doubled up to roughly 63,000 chips.

Nick Yamazaki Builds His Stack

Nick Yamazaki limped in from under-the-gun. Action folded around to a short-stacked player in the cutoff seat who moved all in for 2,400. Yamazaki made the call. The players turned over:

Yamazaki: {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{6-Diamonds}

Yamazaki flopped the {10-Clubs} to leave his opponent with only runner-runner draws that never came. With that pot he is now among the leaders with about 46,000 chips and there is one less player with their eye on the title.

Masa Kagawa Eliminated
Masa Kagawa Eliminated
We caught up to this hand on the turn. With the board reading {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades}, Masa Kagawa bet 10,000. Uwe Brauckhoff, who had Kagawa covered, thought for quite a while before announcing "all in." Kagawa called and the players showed:

Kagawa: {K-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Brauckhoff: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

The river brought a meaningless {7-Clubs} and Kagawa was sent to the rail. With that pot, Uwe Brauckhoff now commands a stack of 60,000.

A Jack of All Trades

Kelly Flynn, who hand-built the dozens of tables used by the APPT, is still alive in today's event and sitting comfortably with 29,000 chips. Flynn's detailed craftsmanship is not only outstanding, but could bring new meaning to the term "home field advantage."
