On the first hand of play of this level, action folded around to Jozef Berec in the small blind. Berec raised enough to put the big blind player, Ulf Martensson, all in. Martensson made the call for his tournament life. The players showed:

Martensson: {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Berec: {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The flop came {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades} giving Berec an open-ended straight draw in addition to his live cards. The {Q-Clubs} on the river was the nail in the coffin for Martensson. He was eliminated in 10th place and leaves with $6,557.

Action folded around to Kent Justice on the button. Justice raised to 18,000. Jozef Berec made the call from the big blind and the two players took a flop.

{Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Both players checked and the dealer wasted no time laying the {Q-Spades} on the turn. Berec, who had Justice covered, moved all in. Justice called for his remaining 53,000. Berec opened {10-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Justice tabled {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. The {4-Spades} on the river missed Justice completely and he was eliminated in 11th place and will take home $6,557 to show for it.

Ulf Martensson Doubles Through Dan Schreiber

A short-stacked Ulf Martensson moved all in pre-flop and was looked up by Dan Schreiber. Both players had fairly modest hands, Schreiber with {J-Spades}{8-Hearts} and Martensson with {6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. The flop came down {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts} leaving Martensson with not only live cards but an inside straight draw. The {7-Clubs} on the turn filled that straight but gave Schreiber a straight draw of his own. The dealer laid the {7-Spades} on the river and Ulf Martensson doubled up to around 70,000.
