Action folded around to Victor Goossens who raised to 600. Yuji Okayama re-raised to 2,000 and Goossens made the call. The flop came 7-6-5. Goossens checked and Okayama bet out. Goossens raised enough to put Okayama all in and he made the call. The players showed:
Goossens: 9-9
Okayama: A-J
The turn and river were no help to Okayama and he was eliminated. Goossens is now working with about 16,000 chips.
Joe Hachem, Vanessa Rousso, and Isabelle Mercier have all gotten off to a relatively slow start. All are hovering below the starting chip mark of 10,000, but obviously still very much a threat as long as they're still seated.
A total of 186 players entered into this main event. Of those entrants, 171 currently remain. Play is nine-handed at all but one of the remaining tables. The total prize pool for this event is $437,100 USD. Payouts will be available shortly.
Yugi Okayama is one of the colorful characters on the Asia Pacific circuit. He is similar in flair to the great Scotty Nguyen, but in a much louder, more boisterous manner.
After running into some bad luck early and getting down to just 2,000 in chips, James Honeybone has gone on a recent rush and is now back up to his original 10,000 starting stack.
David Saab must be feeling good about his chances here today as he has just gotten involved in another last longer prop bet. For this one he'll be up against WSOP bracelet winner Isaac "The General" Galazan for $100 USD.
