Karib Karib
Karib Karib
Karib Karib of Australia just lost a good chunk of his chips to Alex Estrellado after he called Estrellado's all in holding {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}, with the board showing {Q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}; Alex tabled pocket kings.

The turn and river blanked out, giving Estrellado the pot and 430,000 in chips. Karib dropped to 300,000 after the hand.

Players Starting To Feel The Pressure

With 58 players remaining, Aleks Lackovic had a massive decision on a board of {10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. The pot was worth around 250,000 and Lackovic was in deep deliberation, pondering a call holding a six for the bottom end of the full house.

After a full five minutes, the tournament directors call time on him. With the clock ticking down to the final few seconds, Lackovic was about to call but the clock beat him and his hand was declared dead as the pot was pushed to his opponent!

Joe Hachem Eliminated

Hachem's Elimination Hand
Hachem's Elimination Hand
In a limped pot, five players including 2005 WSOP Champion Joe Hachem, took the flop of {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

It was checked around to Barry Kohlhoff on the button who fired 15,000 into the pot. The action folds around to Hachem who makes the call with {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

The turn brings the {4-Hearts} and Kohlhoff bets another 30,000 chips. Hachem, who has now picked up a flush draw, goes into the tank before making the call.

The river proves to be a terrible card for Hachem as the {8-Clubs} now gives him a full house. He checks and Kohlhoff goes all in for his last 42,000 in chips. Hachem makes the call but Kohlhoff flips over {9-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for the bigger boat.

Hachem is crippled and only has enough chips for the 500 chip ante next hand. He has {6-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and his opponent Guillaume Patry has {A-Spades}{J-Spades}. The board comes {4-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} giving Patry a full house and crowd favorite Joe Hachem is eliminated from the event just short of the money.

Play Slows Down

The action has been fast and furious this afternoon, but with 64 players now remaining the play has slowed down considerably in the last few orbits. Players are now aware that there are only eight more eliminations before they reach the money and play has tightened up accordingly.

Bergren's Big Blind Bliss

In a battle of the blinds Sol Bergren sees a flop holding a weak looking {J-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. But on the flop of {J-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, his hand suddenly became a monster. When his opponent raised the flop, Bergren was happy to commit his chips. His opponent called and had Bergren covered, but was in terrible shape with {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for nothing but a weaker flush draw. When the {J-Spades} landed on the turn, Bergren's opponent was drawing dead, boosting Bergren to over 400,000 in chips.

Van Marcus Eliminated

Van Marcus
Van Marcus
A short-stacked Van Marcus moved all in before the flop holding A-7 and was called by Craig Gray who tabled pocket queens. Tournament chip leader Henrik Gwinner also considered making the call with his pocket fives, but decided to lay them down before the flop. Lucky for him, it was the right move, as both he and Craig hit sets on the Q-8-5 flop - Craig's being the larger of the two. Marcus picked up an open-ended straight draw when a six fell on the turn, but the ace that fell on the river sealed his fate.

Sorry Baby

Kenny Ng
Kenny Ng
In a huge pot with the board reading {K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}, Kenny Ng fires out 96,000 on the river into Scotty Nguyen. Scotty thinks for a few moments before making the call. Ng says "Sorry baby" and flips over {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for the straight which is enough to rake in the 250,000 chip pot as Scotty mucks his hand.
