Great Scott!

Stewart Scott
Stewart Scott
Stewart Scott has doubled up through an enthusiastically boisterous opponent.

All the chips were in preflop with Scott needing to improve his {A-Spades}{K-Hearts} against his opponent pocket kings.

"No ace! No ace!" the player shouted which was quickly followed by a loud expletive that sent a chuckle through the room as the board was spread {3-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}.

The turn was the {9-Hearts} and river the {5-Clubs} and the Aussie Millions champ doubles up to over 20,000.

Short Stacks Fight The Good Fight

Liv Boeree
Liv Boeree
It's been a rough ride for many of our notable players today, but a couple of the short stacks are fighting back.

JC Tran is still working with half his original stack but is pushing hard. After an early position raisor made it 800 to go, Tran moved all in from the button for 4,175 in total. The price looked tempting but his opponent let it go and Tran survived.

Meanwhile on a nearby table London's lovely Liv Boeree is now back above her starting stack after firing a bet of 3,100 on a board of {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Her opponent cringed and released as Boeree is back to 12,000 chips.

Road Looking Rocky for Lieu

Liz Lieu's stack has dwindled to a precarious 2,200 after a recent confrontation with David Chiu. There were already four cards on board, {2-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {4-Spades} {7-Spades}, when Lieu fired out 1,300. Chiu called to see the {10-Hearts} hit the river. Lieu gave up on the hand at that point, with both players checking to showdown. Chiu's unimproved {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} was good enough to take down the pot.

Stahle Styling

Christopher Stahle had moved up to around 35,000 after eliminating a short stack. Stahle made the call with {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} against his opponent who flipped {K-Spades}{6-Clubs} for an attempted re-steal.

The board ran out {2-Spades}{9-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Stahle takes it down.

No Joy

Dominico Choi Sun Young found himself involved in a preflop all-in confrontation with the best hand. His {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} was the overwhelming favorite against an opponent's {Q-Clubs} {8-Clubs}. Nothing changed on a {5-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {Q-Spades} flop or the {3-Hearts} turn. However the river was a most unfortunate {Q-Diamonds}, giving each player the same full house. Young shook his head in utter furstration. His stack is currently at about 6,000 chips.

Official Numbers

TD Matt Savage has made it official. The total combined field from Day 1A and Day 1B is 326 players. 40 of those players will be paid. The minimum cash is HKD 40,500 (USD 5,225); first place pays HKD 3,035,000 (USD 391,556).

Adios John Juanda

Well John Juanda made a late entrance and an early exit. We got him all in with pocket tens against an opponent's pocket queens. Juanda was out of his chair shouting for a helpful card, but there was no help anywhere on the board. He's out.
