Benson Setting Himself Up

Gary Benson is charging

We caught action at the turn with the board reading {2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Gary Benson was heads up with an opponent who fired out 800. Benson raised him to 2,300 and the opponent called.

The river was the {9-Clubs} and the opponent made a large bet of 4,000. Benson called tabling {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades} for a set. It would be good enough to take the pot.

Benson now has 33,000.

Scott Stuck in the Mud

On a flop of {9-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{9-Clubs} Stewart Scott led 1,500 and the player on the button called. The Turn was the {3-Hearts} and Scott checked, so the button fired 2,275. Scott then check-raised over the top all in picking up a pot.

Scott has been bogged for a while. He just hasn't been able to get things going since racing to 25,000 early in the tournament. Hopefully this move to 23,800 will spur a comeback for the defending Main Event champion.

Julius Colman is a tough customer

Preflop, Lee Nelson opened to 800 from the cutoff and the button moved all in for 6,200. Julius Colman smooth smalled from the small blind looking for Nelson to also give him action.

It didn't happen Nelson folded, leaving Colman to table his {A-Spades}{a-Clubs} crushing the opponent's {A-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {k-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts} to move Colman to 37,700. After the hand Nelson claimed to have laid down {j-?}{j-?}.

Warne Has Opponents In A Spin

Preflop, a player from under-the-gun opened and the small blind three bet. With action on Shane Warne in the big blind he four bet shoved for around 12,000. Action passed back to the small blind who tanked for calling with {A-Hearts}{k-Spades}.

He would be crushed by Warne's {A-Spades}{a-Diamonds}. The board ran out {9-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades} to award the biggest pot of the day so far to the spin king.

"I wanted to make it look like I had jacks or tens," said Warne after the hand. His opponent thought that Warne had done a good job of it saying, "That's what I thought you had when I called".

Warne moves up to 36,000, on top of the counts for now.
