Cobra Cabret

Joe Cabret just won a small battle against Team PokerStars Pro Barry Greenstein to creep back up to 17,000 in chips.

Greenstein opened the pot with a raise to 300 from the cutoff and Cabret made the call from the big blind. The flop came {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-?} rainbow and Cabret check-called a 400 continuation bet from Greenstein.

The {7-Spades} fell on the turn and Cabret checked once more, allowing Greenstein to fire another bullet - this time for 600. Cabret then check-raised to 1,600 and Greenstein folded, surrendering the hand to Cabret.

"Bear" dropped down to 18,000 in chips in the loss.

Chronis Gets Creative

Chris Chronis made it 200 from under the gun, with Jay Kinkade making the call, before a player in middle position popped it to 700. Both Chronis and Kinkade made the call to see a flop of {7-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}.

Action checked around and the {Q-Hearts} fell on the turn. Chronis fired 2,100 forcing a fold from Kinkade but the third player made the call as the {J-Hearts} fell on the river.

Chronis fired again for 3,600 and his opponent tanked and made the call with {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades} which was good as Chronis tabled {J-Spades}{8-Spades}. Chronis slips to 18,500 chips.

Harman Doubles Up

As our PokerNews reporters made the rounds, one of them was stopped by local player Damian Harman who advised us he has just doubled up to 42,000 after eliminating an opponent.

Harman, an accountant from the northern Melbourne suburb of Sunbury, moved all in on a flop of {k-?}{7-?}{4-?} with pocket aces and was called by his short-stacked opponent who tabled {a-?}{k-?}.

The turn and the river bricked, sending the opponent to the rail and doubling Harman's stack, which should help considering he's sitting on table 50 alongside Hendon Mobster Barny Boatman and Dan Shak!

Yes, Durrrr Shows the Six-Trey on the River and It's Good

With about 2,750 in the pot already and the board reading {a-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} when we wandered over to the table of death, Tom "Durrrr" Dwan tossed out a bet of 1,925. Billy "The Croc" Argyros thought things over while muttering under his breath a bit. Finally he said, "ace-three or ace-five Tom, and made the call."

The {a-Spades} on the river created even more drama, and Dwan counted down his chips, putting together different combinations in his hands before very silently checking over to Argyros.

"The Croc," who is wearing a full on crocodile hat today, darted all four of his eyes to Dwan; his two human eyes and his two crocodile eyes, before sheepishly checking behind.

Dwan flipped over the {3-Clubs} and then the {6-Spades}, and Argyros could do nothing but shake his head in disbelief. He let out a "sick" before mucking his cards, prompting the dealer to slide the pot over to Dwan who is back over the starting stack with about 23,000.

Damm Delivers on Monster Draw

A hand that was recalled to us by David Saab has got his table into a heated discussion about the mathematics and odds of the hand in question.

Warwick Mirzikinian started the action with a raise from early position to 900 with Saab and Kenneth Damm making the call.

The flop fell {A-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Damm checked to Mirzikinian who fired 900. Saab then popped it to 2,600 before Damm check-raised to 8,000. This forced Mirzikinian to fold but Saab moved all in with Damm making the call for his tournament life.

Saab was in front with {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} but Damm tabled a monstrous {5-Spades}{7-Spades} for straight and flush draws.

The {2-Clubs} hit the turn to give Damm his straight and a double up as the river bricked.

Following the hand, the players were arguing with Saab complaining about a bad beat as Damm defended himself by stating that he was a favorite when the money went in on the flop. Saab disagreed and this sparked Sam Korman to pull out a calculator and he worked out that Damm was actually a 51% favorite. Saab still wasn't convinced, claiming that his calculator was also wrong!

Saab is down to 22,000 with Damm up to 39,000.

Siu Down; Lederer Arrives

Jimmy Siu is down to 7,000 in chips after firing 1,800 on a flop of {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Spades} and being forced to fold when his opponent check-raised all in for 9,100 in total.

As things were looking bad for Siu, they just got a whole lot worse as "The Professor" Howard Lederer has just taken his seat at that table.
