Levy Wins a Strange One

Grant Levy opened to 400 in middle position, both players in the blinds called, and the dealer fanned {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. All three players checked.

The turn was the {3-Clubs}, the player in the small blind checked, and the player in the big blind fired 800. Only Levy called.

The {5-Spades} completed the board, and the player led out for 2,300. Levy raised to 6,300, and thinking he just called, the player flashed what looked like {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}.

Once he realized that Levy raised, he immediately folded.

Kanaan Done

The first starting day of the 2013 Aussie Millions Main Event has been quite exciting already. We just lost another player as Michael Kanaan was knocked out. Kanaan just moved all in under the gun for 1,975 and he was called by one player.

Michael Kanaan: {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Opponent: {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts}, and Kanaan was knocked out.

"It was just a series of coolers," Kanaan told us as he left the tournament area.

Elder Straightened Out

Rupert Elder and an opponent were heads up on a board of {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. The player check-called a 2,800-chip bet from Elder, and the river was the {j-Spades}.

The player checked, Elder fired 5,700, and the player immediately called. Elder confidently tabled {8-}{7-} for two pair, but his opponent rolled over {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a straight to the jack.

Elder's hand went into the muck, and his stack slipped to 19,200 chips.

Pedley Up Against Aces

Michael Pedley just lost a serious pot when he ran into pocket aces. The action started with Leo Boxell who raised it up to 450 and Pedley called. The player in the big blind three-bet to 1,300 and only Pedley followed with the call.

The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{4-Hearts} and the big blind bet 2,000. Pedley called after which the turn, the {9-Diamonds}, was checked by both players. On the river the {5-Hearts} hit and the big blind checked again. Pedley bet 3,100 and his opponent called immediately. Pedley showed {K-Spades}{10-Spades} and lost to {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}.

Lee Busts One

Andy Lee recently eliminated a player on a board of {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{j-Spades}. We're not sure when the money went in, but Lee held {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}, and his opponent had {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}.

Lee's jacks full of aces were good, and he now sits with 70,000 chips.

Defending Champ Struggling

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Defending Aussie Millions Main Event champion Oliver Speidel is having a very tough day so far. We recently updated Speidel's chip count to just 5,200 and he's been folding ever since.

Speidel is waiting for a good spot to get his money in with just 25 big blinds remaining in his stack.
