Phua Unhappily Folds

Paul Phua
Paul Phua

A player limped in from middle position, Paul Phua called from the cutoff, and a third player raised to 1,350 from the small blind. The limper folded, and Phua called.

The dealer fanned {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. The player in the small blind led out for 1,500, and Phua called.

The turn was the {4-Hearts}, and the player slowed down, checking to Phua. The high-stakes cash game player tossed out three teal T1,000 chips, and the player called.

The {k-Diamonds} completed the board, and the player in the small blind flipped out a navy blue T5,000 chip. Phua tanked for the better part of 90 seconds, scrunched his face unhappily, then folded.

"Mr_BigQueso" Gets Sliced and Diced

Jim Collopy
Jim Collopy

We can confirm that Jim "Mr_BigQueso" Collopy has been eliminated from the 2013 Aussie Millions Main Event.

We didn't catch his elimination hand, but we were informed that Collopy held {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and was up against an opponent who had {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. We're not sure when the money went in, though it was likely on the {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{X-} flop. Unfortunately for Collopy, the {A-} appeared on the turn followed by the {9-} on the river.

Pass the Pocket Rockets

Joe Hachem
Joe Hachem

A player in the cutoff opened, for how much we're not sure, and he was met with a three-bet to 1,500 by Joe Hachem on the button. The blinds folded, the cutoff called, and it was heads up to the {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop. The cutoff proceeded to check-shove all in over the top of Hachem's 1,700 bet. It was 8,425 more to the 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event champion and he made the call.

Hachem: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}
Opponent: {5-Clubs}{4-Spades}

Hachem held pocket rockets, and according to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, he had a 76.87% chance of winning while his opponent, who held an open-ended straight draw, had a 23.13% chance. The {10-Clubs} turn further strengthened Hachem's hand, making him a 88.64% favorite, while the {9-Hearts} gave him the pot.

Brammer Gets Some Back

Christoper Brammer and an opponent were heads up on a board of {k-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Brammer's opponent checked, prompting the Brit to toss out 5,400.

The player tanked for the better part of two minutes, then finally committed enough chips to make the call. Brammer rolled over {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for the wheel, and raked in the pot. Despite getting of to a slow start, Brammer is back to the starting stack of 30,000 chips.

At the end of 2012, Brammer made the final table of the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event. He took fifth, and pocketed $207,648 for his efforts.

" I Won't Bluff this Pot, I Swear"

Not long ago Norah Greer picked off a bluff from Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari that proved rather entertaining. Now, Esfandiari has exacted a little revenge.

It happened when an unknown player opened for 700 from the hijack and Esfandiari three-bet to 1,500 from the button. Greer called from the big blind, the original raiser folded, and it was heads-up action to the {3-Spades}{J-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} flop.

"You and me again?" Esfandiari asked. "I'm a little scared. I won't bluff this pot, I swear."

Greer check-called a bet of 3,000, and then both players checked the {K-Clubs} turn. When the {10-Diamonds} peeled off on the river, Greer checked for a third time and then made a quick call after Esfandiari bet 4,400. Greer tabled {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds} for two pair, but it was no good as Esfandiari held {9-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for a straight.
