Gareth Dwyer
Gareth Dwyer

Prior to the break, Jake Balsiger, Scott Seiver, Heinz Kamutzki, and Gareth Dwyer took a flop of {5-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. The action checked to Kamutzki, who tossed out 20,000, and only Dwyer called.

The turn was the {4-Spades}, Kamutzki quickly fired out 55,000, and Dwyer quickly called.

A third diamond - the {7-Diamonds} - completed the board, and Kamutzki checked for the first time. Dwyer announced a bet of 70,000, and Kamutzki looked at him quizzically.

Kamutzki asked him if he understood the situation at hand, and Dwyer grinned.

"I never understand," he answered. Dwyer then cited that he makes some mistakes on the felt.

"Is this a mistake?" Kamutzki asked.

"I'm about to see," Dwyer chuckled. "You're getting four-to-one."

Kamutzki finally called, and Dwyer tabled the winning hand - {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}.

"I wasn't expecting that," the German admitted.

Back-to-Back Hands for Rabinowitz Results in Two Eliminations

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Just before the break, Darren Rabinowitz shot up the chip counts thanks to back-to-back hands that resulted in two eliminations.

In the first, Brendan Hurtig got his stack of 200,000 or so all in preflop holding the {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and was racing against Rabinowitz's {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}. It was a race, and Rabinowitz crossed the finish line after the board ran out {10-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

In the very next hand, Jamie Roberts was victimized by Rabinowitz. We're not sure when the money went in, but we do know that Rabinowitz held the {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} on a board reading {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} while Roberts had the {q-Spades}{10-Clubs} laid out in front of him.

Brkic Busts Lim

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Aaron Lim was just eliminated from the tournament in 61st place.

It happened when he got his stack all in preflop holding the {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} only to run into the {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} of Uros Brkic. The {4-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop was the first nail in Lim's coffin, while the {J-Spades} turn was the final one. Brkic turned quads to leave Lim drawing dead.

McNeill Moves On

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Gerard McNeill was all in for his last three big blinds or so with {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} moments ago. Heinz Kamutzki had him at risk with a lesser {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, but took the lead when the flop fell {q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

McNeill received no help on the turn ({3-Diamonds}) or the river ({3-Spades}), and was off to the payout desk to collect his AUD$15,000.

Kamutzki chipped up to 350,000.

Barer and Brkic Collide

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

We picked up the action on a {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop when Ami Barer checked and Uros Brkic bet 16,000. Barer then woke up with a check-raise to 39,000, Brkic called, and the dealer burned and turned the {3-Hearts}. Barer kept the pressure on with a bet of 44,000, but Brkic refused to surrender.

When the {6-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, Barer bet a hefty 106,000 and Brkic wasted little time in calling. Barer rolled over the {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for trips, and Brkic sent his cards to the muck with aggression while uttering a swear word.
