Tam Truong Eliminated in 11th Place (AU$100,000)

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Tam Truong
Tam Truong

After losing a big pot to Jake Balsiger where both players had a flush - Balsiger's was larger - Tam Truong three-bet shoved for 345,000 over an open to 60,000 from Scott Seiver. Seiver called.

Truong: {a-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Seiver: {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop gave Seiver a backdoor straight draw to go along with his live cards, and the {q-Hearts} on the turn changed that to an open-ended straight draw.

Any king, ten, nine, or ace would eliminate Truong, and the {a-Diamonds} spiked on the river to give Seiver Broadway. Truong exits in 11th place, earning AUD$100,000, while Seiver is up to 2.4 million chips.

Patrick Crivell Eliminated in 12th Place (AU$100,000)

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Patrick Crivell
Patrick Crivell

It seemed only a matter of time before short-stacked Patrick Crivell would have to make a stand, and he just made it.

Crivell shipped his last 375,000 from the cutoff, and after thinking about it for about a minute, Andrew Phaedonos called him from the small blind. Sorel Mizzi folded the big and the cards were turned up.

Crivell: {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}
Phaedonos: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

"Fade," Crivell's rail began to cry after the flop came down {q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Spades}. The {4-Clubs} turn brought him one step closer to a double and even louder calls of, "Fade."

At that moment the dealer burned and put out the {K-Clubs}. Phaedonos rail erupted as their man spiked a king to send Crivell home in 12th place.

Rabinowitz Tries the Hero-Call

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Vincent Rubianes and Darren Rabinowitz were heads up on a board of {q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Spades}{a-Spades}, and Rubianes check-called a bet of 190,000 from Rabinowitz. The river was the {4-Hearts}, Rubianes check-called another 225,000, and Rubianes showed {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for top two.

Rabinowitz showed {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for effectively king-high.

Crivell in the Danger Zone

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

With around 200,000 in the pot and a board reading {2-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}, Andrew Phaedonos checked from the small blind and a short-stacked Patrick Crivell bet 85,000 from the hijack. Phaedonos woke up with a check-raise to 177,000, and it proved too much for Crivell as he sent his cards to the muck.

Seidel Slips

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Erik Seidel opened for 60,000 and received a call from Ami Barer on the button. Jake Balsiger came along from the big blind and three players saw a flop of {q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{k-Clubs}. Balsiger checked, Seidel bet 90,000, and only Barer called.

Seidel proceeded to check-call bets of 195,000 and 200,000 on the {10-Diamonds} turn and {a-Hearts} river respectively, but mucked when Barer rolled over the {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a straight.

Balsiger Makes the Call

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Jake Balsiger
Jake Balsiger

Jake Balsiger checked to Tam Truong on a flop of {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}, and Truong tossed out 190,000. Balsiger called.

The turn was the {8-Clubs}, Balsiger knuckled again, and Truong fired out another 150,000. Balsiger again called.

The 2012 Octo-Niner checked a third and final time when the {a-Clubs} completed the board, and Truong emptied the chamber. With his third bullet, he moved all in for effectively 500,000 or so, and Balsiger tanked for a considerable amount of time before calling.

Truong tabled {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for top two pair, but it was no good against Balsiger's {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a jack-high straight. Balsiger now has 1.75 million chips, while Truong tumbled to 1.14 million.
