O'Dea Takes Some from Seidel

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Action folded to Erik Seidel in the small blind and he raised to 56,000. Eoghan O'Dea defended from the big and the two saw a flop of {8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, which they both checked. Seidel then led out for 80,000 on the {10-Clubs} turn, O'Dea called, and then the duo returned to checking on the {5-Hearts} river.

Seidel flashed the {2-Clubs} for a pair of deuces, but it was no good as O'Dea tabled the {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} to win the pot.

Crivell Bets the River

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Eoghan O'Dea raised to 50,000 from under the gun, Patrick Crivell three-bet to 100,000 out of the small blind, and O'Dea made the call.

The dealer spread {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, both players checked, and the pair knuckled when the {7-Clubs} turned. The {k-Hearts} completed the board, Crivell led out for 125,000, and O'Dea folded.

Barer Gets Some Back

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Scott Seiver opened for 55,000 and then called when Ami Barer three-bet to 99,000. Barer continued on the {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-} flop and Seiver folded. Not much of a hand but a good opportunity for us to update you on their chip counts.

Phaedonos Finds a Double

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Andrew Phaedonos limped in from the small blind, Sorel Mizzi raised to 69,000, and Phaedonos re-raised to 226,000. Mizzi moved all in for effectively 581,000, and Phaedonos quickly called.

Phaedonos: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Mizzi: {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Phaedonos held as the board came {3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, and he doubled to nearly 1.2 million chips. Mizzi is still very healthy with 2.47 million.

One for Rossiter

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Jeff Rossiter opened with a raise and then called a three-bet from Ami Barer. When the flop came down {j-Spades}{4-Spades}{k-Clubs}, Barer led out for 89,000, Rossiter called, and the {J-Diamonds} turned. It went check-check to the {10-Clubs} river, and Barer checked for a second time. Rossiter took the opportunity to bet 232,000, and it did the trick as Barer folded his hand.

David Middleton Eliminated in 15th Place (AU$70,000)

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Tam Truong raised to 50,000 from under the gun, David Middleton moved all in for 266,000 on the button, and both blinds released.

"I've got two good cards," Middleton told Truong while he tanked. "I'm happy if you call and happy if you fold. I'm here to double up."

Truong laughed.

"I'll be happy to drink beer if you bust me too," Middleton added.

Truong eventually called, showing {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}, and he was crushed by Middleton's {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}. Truong took the lead when the flop fell {8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, however, but Middleton was still drawing live. A queen would give him a better pair and a jack would give him a straight.

The {k-Hearts} on the turn changed nothing, as did the {2-Spades} on the river, and Middleton graciously shook hands with every player at the table before exiting. He will earn seven times his buy-in for a 15th-place finish, while Truong is up over a million chips.

O'Dea Spikes

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Eoghan O'Dea
Eoghan O'Dea

Erik Seidel opened for a raise in the cutoff, Eoghan O'Dea moved all in for 518,000 on the button and both blinds released. Seidel made a quick call, showing {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}, and O'Dea tabled {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}.

The Irishman was well behind but flopped backdoor straight and flush draws when the dealer fanned {5-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. The {2-Hearts} on the turn kept his backdoor wheel draw alive, giving him seven outs to survive, and the {a-Spades} on the river was one of them.

O'Dea doubled to over a million chips, while Seidel fell to a similar stack size.

Rubianes Takes from Balsiger Twice

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Jake Balsiger completed from the small blind, Vincent Rubianes checked from the big blind, and the flop came {K-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. Balsiger checked, Rubianes put out a bet of 20,000, and Balsiger deliberated before responding with a raise of 55,000.

Rubianes clicked it back one more time, pushing out a bet of 90,000. Balsiger was done with all the foreplay and moved all-in which would put Rubianes at risk. Rubianes checked his cards one more time before making the call.

Rubianes: {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Balsiger: {K-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Unfortunately for Balsiger the dealer had provided a cooler which he couldn't recover from, as the board completed {4-Diamonds}, {J-Clubs}.

Two hands later, Eoghan O'Dea opened to 45,000 in early position, Balsiger called in the cutoff, and Rubianes three-bet to 115,000 on the button. O'Dea folded, Balsiger called, and both players checked on a flop of {j-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds}, the two checked again, and the {8-Diamonds} completed the board. Balsiger led out for 135,000, and Rubianes instantly called.

Balsiger showed {a-Spades}{10-Spades} for a pair of aces, but he was pipped by Rubianes' {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}.

Khylon Hanegraaf Eliminated in 16th Place (AU$55,000)

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Jake Balsiger opened for a raise in the cutoff, Khylon Hanegraaf three-bet all in for a little over 200,000 on the button, and the action folded back to the 2012 Octo-Niner, who called.

Balsiger: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Hanegraaf: {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}

We were off to the races as the dealer burned a card and flopped the {2-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Spades}. Hanegraaf picked up backdoor straight and flush draws to go with his two overs, and the {2-Spades} on the turn kept the flush draw alive.

The river was black, but the {6-Clubs} was a brick and Hanegraaf hit the rail in 16th place.
