See you in the $250k, Ike

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante
Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton

Isaac Haxton will be hoping for (at least) a repeat performance on last year's efforts in the AU$250,000 Challenge (2nd for AU$2,820,000) when he plays on the weekend as the Main Event didn't work out so well for him today.

He was on the button and three-bet to 4,200 after the hijack had opened to 1,400. The action was back on his opponent and he buried his head in in arms for enough time that it seemed odd. When he resurfaced, he moved all in with {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Haxton called all in for 17,000 with {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} but failed to hit on the {6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} board.

Rast Busts O'Dwyer

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

Brian Rast opened with a raise to 1,500 from early-middle position, and then play folded to Steve O'Dwyer on the button. O'Dwyer reraised all in for an even 15,000, and play folded back to Rast. He mulled it over, then called, and it was his {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} versus the {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for the at-risk O'Dwyer.

The flop, turn, and river ran out {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, and O'Dwyer was eliminated.

Ivey Folds the River

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

On the button, Phil Ivey raised to 1,600. The player in the big blind called, and the flop came down {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{2-Spades}. The first player checked, Ivey bet 2,000, and his opponent called.

The turn was the {4-Clubs}, and both players checked to see the {A-Diamonds} land on the river. The first player bet 2,500, and Ivey thought about it for a minute before folding.

Schemion, the Four-Bet King

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

Every time there's a raise and a reraise in front of Ole Schemion it seems he wants to four-bet. And then, a good amount of the time he actually does come in with amped up aggression. This was one of those cases.

After Sorel Mizzi opened with a raise from early position to 1,500 and another player three-bet from middle position to 3,600, action folded to Schemion in the small blind. The young German stuck in a cold four-bet to 7,500, and that won him the pot.

Updated Chip Counts

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

Stavropoulos vs. Rast vs. O'Dwyer

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

Manny Stavropoulos opened for 1,300 and was met by a three-bet to 3,500 by Brian Rast. Steve O'Dwyer then flatted from the big blind, Stavropoulos called, and the three of them watched the flop come down {9-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. All three players checked, and then action repeated itself on the {K-Spades} turn.

When the {5-Hearts} completed the board on the river, O'Dwyer bet 7,000, Stavropoulos called, and Rast took his time before doing the same.

"Queens," O'Dwyer said before flashing his ladies. Rast then rolled over the {k-Clubs}{q-Spades} for a pair of kings. O'Dwyer mucked his pocket pair and then Stavropoulos did the same.

Salter Downed by Rossiter

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante
Jeff Rossiter
Jeff Rossiter

Louis Salter will not be joining brother, Jack, on Day 2 tomorrow after he was eliminated by Jeff Rossiter.

Both players had been struggling to build a stack today but Rossiter has the best chance to now and moved up to 47,000 after taking out the young Brit. Salter's ace-nine was no match for Rossiter's pocket rockets.
