Engel Eliminates Luong

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

We found Anthony Luong shoving his last 90,000 or so in over a bet from Ari Engel on {j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Engel snap-called since he had {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} for the nuts. He was fading hearts since Luong turned over {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. The turn brought the {8-Hearts} that Engel didn't want to see but an {8-Clubs} river sent the pot his way anyway.

Bourne Busts; Pyysing Doubles

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Aki Pyysing
Aki Pyysing

Down to 20,000 once more, Ize Bourne moved all in from the small blind with the {Q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Arne Ruge called in the big blind with {J-Spades}{6-Spades}. The board came {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{A-Spades}{K-Spades} and Bourne doubled.

The next hand, Szymon Wysocki raised to 14,000 and called the button shove of Bourne.

Ize Bourne: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Szymon Wysocki: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}

This time it was not meant to be for Bourne, who patiently grinded a very short stack throughout the entire day before bowing out eventually.

One table over, Aki Pyysing shoved for 110,000 with the {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and Saijes Mundadan looked him up from one seat over with the {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}. The board came {J-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and Pyysing paired his jack to remain in contention.

Double Elimination for Lan After Sick Runout

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Frank Pezzaniti
Frank Pezzaniti

Frank Pezzaniti opened from the button and Corentin Hillion flat-called in the small blind. Tu Lan was in the big blind and three-bet to 75,000. Pezzaniti flat-called before Hillion four-bet all in for 417,000. Lan tank-called and action was on Pezzaniti who, after assessing his options, called all in for his last 243,000.

Frank Pezzaniti: {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Corentin Hillion: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Tu Lan: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Lan was clearly overjoyed to be ahead, calling on his cards to hold. There was a jack in the window of a {j-Spades}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop which caused him to cheer out loud.

The turn, however, drew 'oohs' from the assembled rail, who had gathered to see the big all-in showdown, as the {6-Hearts} gave Pezzaniti flush and straight draws.

There was a pause before the river was dealt - and what a river it was. The {j-Hearts} caused Pezzaniti to celebrate, having hit his flush, but it was all for naught as celebrating equally loudly was Lan who had rivered quads.

Hopkins Triples Up Despite Scary Turn

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Meanwhile, on the stream, James Hopkins moved all in for 93,000 from the cutoff with {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and was called by Anthony Hachem in the small blind {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Stefan Huber in the big blind {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Hachem bet 75,000. Huber called and the {a-Hearts} came on the turn. Hachem checked this time and Huber bet 135,000. Hachem sat back in his chair in contemplation before folding.

The cards were turned over to reveal that despite the Ace on the turn, Hopkins was still in the lead. The river was the {3-Spades} and Hopkins tripled up, with Huber winning the side pot.

Meanwhile, Takao Shimizu is still holding strong as chip leader at the feature table.
