Defending Champion Shurane Vijayaram in the Field

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Shurane Vijayaram - $10,000 Main Event Aussie Millions Winner 2017

In the field since Level 1 today is defending champion Shurane "Shane" Vijayaram. Last year he turned a $130 satellite seat into a $1.6m score and is back playing the Aussie Millions Main Event 12 months on.

"It's awesome to be back," said Vijayaram. "Playing at my home casino; it's awesome and there's a great atmosphere. Everoyne is having fun - I mean, everyone likes to have a punt.

"It's just a great festival."

Vijayaram says he's played here a couple of times since his win, but today has been an up and down start.

"I was up a little bit. But then I flopped a king-high flush and my opponent turned a boat. Still in, and it's a long day so there are plenty of hands still to play."

And what advice does he have for anyone playing in their first major tournament, just like he did last year?

"I’d say just play it like every other tournament. Like I said, they're long days so don't get disheartened that you lose or because you're down a little bit. There's a lot of hands still to come!"
