Zenonos's Defense Gets Rewarded
Level 10
: Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Players were already heads up and on a 6♠7♣10♣ flop with Christopher Zenonos all in from the big blind for his remaining 20,500. Ryo Matsubara was sitting in a middle position and had already bet 10,000 on the flop. He quickly topped up to call and cover Zenonos.
Christopher Zenonos: 7♠5♠
Ryo Matsubara: K♥10♥
Zenonos had flopped a pair of sevens, and a backdoor straight and flush draw. Matsubara was still ahead with a pair of tens, but that all changed on the 7♦ turn.
Zenonos locked the double after seeing the 8♥ fall on the river, and he kept his seat in the main event.
After the hand, Zenonos remarked "Gotta defend seven-five when short stacked".
