Hasan Onay moved all in from under the gun for 35,500. It folded to Dean Boskovic who slid out a raise to somewhere in the region of 80,000. The remaining players all folded.
"I'm gonna flop a straight flush," said Onay, tabling Q♠9♠. Boskovic showed A♦Q♣
Onay implored the dealer for a nine on every street of the 2♥2♦5♦K♦2♣ board, but to no avail and he was eliminated.
Three more players have been eliminated from Day 1f of the Australian Poker Open Main Event. Meanwhile, tournament officials have confirmed that the day will conclude once the field is down to 18 players (12.5%).
A reminder that Day 1f attracted a total of 147 entries.
Sayed Jabbour was sitting pretty with a stack in excess of 600,000 and his tablemates relayed the information to PokerNews.
Zelig Otter and Jabbour went heads-up to a Jx9x3x flop in a three-bet pot. Jabbour continued for 13,000 and Otter called.
The turn was a Kx putting two spades on the board. Jabbour checked and Otter bet 55,000. Jabbour check-raised to 120,000 before Otter shoved for around 280,000.
Jabbour called with Qx10x for the nuts with Otter turning over AxQx for just ace-high. The river bricked sending Otter to the rail.
On the very next hand, Tomas Szwarcberg bet the 9♦8♣5♠10♠6♦ river for 12,000 into a pot of 80,000. His opponent Ethan Erdeljac raised to 50,000 and Szwarcberg called. Erdeljac showed A♥9♥ for a pair of nines, but that was no good against the A♦A♠ of his opponent.
Lauchlan Swann opened form middle position and Dejan Boskovic three-bet all in for 56,500 from the cutoff. The button and blinds all folded and Swann made the quick call.

It wasn't a good spot for Boskovic, who was already on his feet before the flop had come K♥10♣5♠. He was heading to the door on the J♦ turn and the 6♣ river sealed his fate.
Three players saw a flop of Q♣6♠3♣ and it was the first player, Bernie Stang, who shoved for 76,500 into a pot of around 25,000. Mark Yazbeck called and Martin Finger folded.

Yazbeck had flopped top pair but would have to dodge clubs or an ace to send Stang to the rail. The turn was the 9♠ and the river the 4♥ and Stang was eliminated.
