$1,500 Platinum Players Championship
Day 3 Started
What was meant to be a two-day sprint has officially turned into a three-day showdown, as the $1,500 Platinum Players Championship at the 2025 Australian Poker Open heads into unscheduled Day 3 action. After a long and dramatic Day 2 inside Club Marconi at Doltone House Western Sydney, nine players still remain in contention for the title—and with the clock ticking past cutoff, play was paused with chips still flying and tension in the air.
The final table will now resume today at 3 p.m., where one of the remaining hopefuls will walk away with the Platinum trophy and the A$252,300 top prize.
Leading the way is Jennifer Cassell, who closed out Day 2 with a commanding 11,225,000 in chips. Cassell surged through the late levels and will return as the player to beat with 75 big blinds and momentum firmly on her side.
Close behind is Daniel Neilson, a familiar face in the Australian poker scene who bagged 10,675,000 and brings plenty of big-stage experience into the final day. Reece Bedot rounds out the top three with 7,000,000, having bulldozed his way through a string of knockouts on Day 2—including bursting the final table bubble and bringing play to an end on Day 2.
| Seat | Player | Country | Chip Count | Big Blinds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Reece Bedot | Australia | 7,000,000 | 47 |
| 2 | Hai Kee | Australia | 3,585,000 | 24 |
| 3 | Zac Vigar | Australia | 3,310,000 | 22 |
| 4 | Dustin Tran | Australia | 4,685,000 | 31 |
| 5 | Jennifer Cassell | Australia | 11,225,000 | 75 |
| 6 | Daniel Neilson | Australia | 10,675,000 | 71 |
| 7 | Jason Brown | Australia | 2,985,000 | 20 |
| 8 | Johan Lees | Australia | 4,125,000 | 28 |
| 9 | Anthony Xu | Australia | 2,325,000 | 16 |
Also still in the mix are a number of talented grinders as the likes of Dustin Tran (4,685,000), Johan Lees (4,125,000), Hai Kee (3,585,000), Zac Vigar (3,310,000), Jason Brown (2,985,000), and Anthony Xu (2,325,000) will all return with their eyes firmly locked on the top prize, each guaranteed a minimum payday but dreaming of much more.
A total of 126 players made it into Day 2 and the money, locking up a minimum payout of A$2,650, but only nine remain in the hunt for one of the most prestigious titles of the series. Last year’s heads-up finalists Chris Moussa and Justin Woo both hit the rail earlier in the day, falling short of a back-to-back final table appearance, which means a brand new champion is guaranteed by the day's end.

Hai Kee limped in from early position and Johan Lees checked his option in the big blind.
Both checked to the river on the 4♥10♣K♥K♦5♣ board where Lees checked the river and Kee bet the minimum - 150,000. Lees considered it for some time and eventually flicked in the call.
"Full house," said Kee as he flipped 4♠4♣, beating the A♥8♥ of Lees.

Daniel Neilson raised to 300,000 with 5♦5♣ from the hijack and Reece Bedot defended his big blind holding J♠9♥.
Both saw the 4♥2♠5♠ flop and after Bedot checked, Neilson continued for 550,000. Bedot then put in a check-raise to 1,200,000, and Neilson just called with his set.
A 10♠ dropped on the turn and Bedot fired out another bet, this time for 1,000,000, with his turned flush draw. Neilson again called.
When the 2♥ landed on the river, Bedot rechecked his cards and counted out a bet of 1,500,000 before sliding it across the line. Neilson responded with a shove, and Bedot could only fold.
Chip lead for Neilson, but Bedot goes tumbling down the counts.

Johan Lees made it 300,000 to go from the hijack and Hai Kee called from the small blind.
The flop came 9♦7♣2♣ and Kee led out for 400,000, which Lees called to watch the 8♠ hit the turn. Kee again bet 400,000 and Lees made 1,600,000. Kees snap-shoved for 3,900,000, and Lees called off his stack of 3,400,000.
Johan Lees: 8♣8♦
Hai Kee: J♦J♣
Lees had drilled a set on the turn and was on the brink of a double-up, but did need to fade any jacks or tens on the river in order to do so.
"No gamble, no future," shouted Kee, his trademark phrase, but it never worked as the 9♣ fell on the river, leaving him with just a few big blinds.

Hai Kee may as well be called Bear Grylls—his survival instincts are fully activated!
First, he jammed for 460,000 from early position and got a call from Johan Lees in the big blind.
Hai Kee: Q♦10♥
Johan Lees: K♠9♥
Lees had one shot to send Kee packing, but the board ran out 5♣4♣J♣3♣ and both players ended up chopping with busted draws and a flushy mess.
Next hand? Kee wasn’t done.
He ripped it in again—this time for 585,000—and Zac Vigar quickly reshoved over the top with a bigger stack of 2,600,000.
Hai Kee: 6♠6♥
Zac Vigar: A♠Q♦
Cue the fireworks. The flop came 5♦6♣K♥, and Kee let out a primal roar as he nailed a set of sixes! Vigar bricked the A♥9♣ turn and river, and suddenly Kee’s stack was back from the dead—climbing to a fiery 1,600,000.
In the very next hand, Kee shoved from under the gun with 10♠10♣ and picked up the blinds!

Daniel Neilson made it 300,000 from early position and Reece Bedot called on the button. Zac Vigar shoved 1,600,000 from the big blind, and only Neilson made the call.
Zac Vigar: A♦5♦
Daniel Neilson: K♠Q♠
Vigar was at risk of being the first player eliminated and despite flopping a pair, would have felt very sweaty after the 7♦4♠5♠ flop gave Neilson a flush draw. A Q♣ on the turn was a dagger in the heart of Vigar as Neilson made top pair, and the 2♣ river was a brick.
