Classic Hold'em Cooler Leaves Diab With Crumbs

Level 2 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Elliot Esca was already all in preflop from under the gun for about 50,000 against Michael Diab, who had Esca covered by just 1,000 on the button.

Elliot Esca: AAAll in
Michael Diab: KK

"That's three times that's happened so far this series!" Diab said of running pocket kings into pocket aces.

It was rotten luck for Diab, who received no help on the 10J739 runout and was forced to surrender the majority of his stack over to Esca.

Kaka Turns Two Pair

Level 2 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Uno Uka opened to 1,000 from the hijack and found one caller in Conway Kaka in the big blind.

Kaka proceeded to lead out and get called by Uka on every street. First for 1,200 on the 275 flop, then for 2,500 on the 8 turn, and finally for 5,500 on the 9 river.

Kaka turned over 87 for eights and sevens and Uka sent his hand into the muck.

The flop came 6K4 and Hakim check-folded facing a 5,000 bet from Muhammed, who tabled AA as he collected the pot.

Bedot Takes From Kee

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Hai Kee limped from the cutoff and Reece Bedot raised to 600 on the button. Rami Hakim called cold from the big blind and Kee came along as well for a three-way pot.

It was checked to Bedot, who continued for 1,200 on the A710 flop. Hakim folded and Kee called.

Both players checked on the 10 turn and Kee checked a final time after the A completed the board. Bedot put out a bet of 2,000 and Kee let his hand go.

The 2025 Australian Poker Open is entering its final stretch, and players will have one last chance to make a run in the $3,300 APO Main Event as Day 1e — the sixth and final flight — gets underway at noon local time.

In the previous flight, Joe Sandaev surged late to bag 817,000 chips — good for second overall through five starting flights. John Perry still holds the top spot, sitting just shy of a million chips thanks to a dominant Day 1d performance inside Club Marconi at Doltone House Western Sydney.

The Main Event has drawn 303 entries across the first five flights, with 33 players advancing to Day 2. Here are the current chip leaders:
