Hovey Qualifies with Last Minute Decision; Still in

Level 8 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante
Phil Hovey
Phil Hovey

Phil Hovey decided last minute to try to qualify for the 2022 Bar Poker Open as his friend Chris O'Neil had already won a seat.

Hovey wanted to join O'Neil in Las Vegas during the World Series of Poker so he decided to load up his account online for some tokens. It didn't take long for him to qualify as his first attempt went perfect, winning the entire package.

Hovey is still in the tournament with a slightly below-average stack and is looking to continue to build his stack and capture the Bar Poker Open Championship title.

Top Pair Good for Carson

Level 7 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Roy Carson
Roy Carson

Roy Carson raised under the gun to 4,000 and was called by the small blind and the big blind went all-in for his last 2,200.

The dealer fanned a flop of {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades} and once checked to, Carson continued with a bet, forcing the third player out of the pot.

Big blind: {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Roy Carson: {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Both players flopped a pair but Carson was ahead with top pair. The {7-Diamonds} turn and {q-Diamonds} river were no help for the big blind as he stood up from the table.

Tully's Full House Eliminates Two

Level 7 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Edward Tully
Edward Tully

Edward Tully limped in early position followed by the small blind before the big blind checked their option.

The dealer fanned a flop of {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, the small blind checked and the big blind put out a bet of 2,100. Tully called and the small blind check-raised all-in for 10,800. After a couple of seconds the big blind called off their stack of roughly 3,800 and Tully instantly called.

Small blind: {a-Hearts}{2-Spades}
Big Blind: {9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Edward Tully: {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Both Tully and the small blind had flopped trip aces and the {3-Clubs} turn and {8-Spades} river improved Tully to a full house, eliminating both of his opponents.

Curley Takes Down Massive Pot

Level 6 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Law Curley
Law Curley

With two players already all-in, the flop read {10-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. The main pot was roughly 25,000 with a side pot of about 30,000. Law Curley bet 6,300 and the only remaining opponent with chips went into the tank before calling, creating a third pot.

The {2-Diamonds} turn and {2-Clubs} river were checked down and Curley showed {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}, making two pair, tens, and twos with a queen kicker. The opponent in the third pot attempted to muck before the dealer tabled his {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} as all hands need to be shown in an all-in pot.

Both the all-in players were eliminated from the table as they showed the {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and the {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}, sending a monstrous sized pot to Curley.

Chris Duran
Chris Duran

On the {5-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}{9-Hearts} turn, Chris Duran was heads-up in the small blind against the big blind and check-called a bet of 6,000.

The {10-Diamonds} hit the river and once Duran checked, his opponent quickly checked back. Duran tabled {5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for two pair on the flop and his opponent showed the {3-}{2-} before his cards hit the muck.
