Bolte Gets a Dub and More

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Howard Bolte
Howard Bolte

Dom Mosley saw action fold to him in the cutoff and opened to 5,000. Howard Bolte called on the button and the big blind three-bet jammed for 17,000. Mosley and Bolte both called, taking heads-up side-pot action to a flop of {j-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Mosley checked to Bolte, who bet 11,500.

"Is that all in?" asked the dealer. Bolte confirmed and Mosley called shortly thereafter.

Big Blind: {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Howard Bolte: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Dom Mosley: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}

Bolte was way ahead with top pair and found no further concern as the turn {3-Spades} and river {6-Clubs} completed the runout, scooping him both pots and a knockout to go along with it.

In other news around the room, another table has just broken and 32 players now remain.

Wang Pays off Calderaro

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
James Calderaro
James Calderaro

Action folded around to Michael Wang in the small blind and he completed. James Calderaro raised his option to 5,000 and Wang thought for about 20 seconds with Calderaro talking up his ear the entire time before he called. The flop came {3-Spades}{8-Hearts}{q-Hearts} and both players quickly checked.

The turn was {9-Hearts} and Wang checked again. Calderaro bet 5,000 and Wang thought for a couple of moments before calling. Calderaro continued to chat, asking Wang what he could have that he called with. Wang checked once more on the river {6-Spades} and Calderaro counted out 11 1K-chips and slid them forward onto the table.

"That six didn't help you," said Calderaro. Wang went into the tank, checking his cards after close to a minute. "Check your cards again. You might make a bad decision," Calderaro added. Mid-sentence, Wang reached for chips and dropped them onto the felt to call at the same time Calderaro finished his sentence.

Calderaro wasted no time showing {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for a set of nines, prompting Wang to shake his head slightly and recognize a nice hand to Calderaro, who earned the pot to take him over 60,000.

Gorsuch Gets River Value with a Set

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
John Gorsuch
John Gorsuch

There was nearly 25,000 in the middle on a board of {4-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades} with heads-up action between Scott Misterek in the small blind and John Gorsuch, who was in the hijack. Misterek fired out 6,000 and Gorsuch quickly called.

The dealer burned and turned the river {k-Clubs} and Misterek bet another 10,000. Gorsuch wasted no time raising to 25,000 and Misterek just as quickly called.

"Set!" said Gorsuch, tabling {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}.

"Ooh! Didn't see that!" said Misterek, showing a no-good {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}.

Thivyanathan Runs Into Cowboys

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Aaron Thivyanathan
Aaron Thivyanathan

Nick Raio limped in early position and Aaron Thivyanathan jammed for 17,000 on his direct left in middle position. Action folded around to the big blind, where Matt Guiliano put in chips to call.

"All in," said Raio immediately thereafter. Guiliano thought for over a full minute about his new decision whether or not to commit his remaining 26,000. Eventually, he folded.

Aaron Thivyanathan: {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Nick Raio: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Thivyanathan was unable to find a three outer as the runout came {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}{5-Clubs} and he was eliminated from the tournament at Raio's expense, who now has 260,000 after taking down the pot.

Also over 200K is Stephen Strout, who was spotted one table over with a stack of 228,000.

While PokerNews is offering live updates from this Main Event, there have been several other side events playing out this past week at the 2021 bestbet Jacksonville Spring Series.

After a fifth-place finish in the opening event series, Bryan Brozman took care of his unfinished business in Event #4: $260 No-Limit Hold'em, outlasting a field of 190 for the first-place prize of $9,906.

Brozman defeated Johnny Ear of Palm Coast, FL heads up, with Ecuador's Pablo Valdivieso taking third place in the event. A trio of River City residents in Steve Zhang, DJ Keenan, and Richard Lewis also made the final table and earned more than $1,250 for their showings.

The top three tables were paid out with 21st-24th place earning $375 and the next four finishers receiving $443. All who made the final two tables were then guaranteed $531, with payout jumps occurring every two places until Alexander Monroe's ninth-place elimination earned him $990 and brought about the final table of eight.

Eddy Mroczkowski
Eddy Mroczkowski

Eddy Mroczkowski was just eliminated from the tournament and caught up to share the details after the hand. He re-jammed his last 10,000 in with {k-}{j-} and was called by {6-}{6-}.

A {7-}{4-}{3-}{q-}{9-} runout left his king-jack no good and ended his tournament life on Day 1a as a result, but he will be back for another shot at tomorrow's Day 1b

Guiliano Doubles Through Theodocion

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Matt Guiliano opened the action with a raise to 3,500 in the hijack and received a call from Pete Theodocion, who defended his big blind. The flop came {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and Theodocion checked to Guiliano, who made a continuation-bet of 2,000. Theodocion check-raised to 10,000 and Guiliano came over the top, three-bet jamming for 18,500. Theodocion called the remainder.

Matt Guiliano: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Pete Theodocion: {q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

"Oh, I've got you dead!" said Theodocion as he saw Guiliano's hand. The dealer spread the turn {3-Spades}.

"Six!" rooted Theodocion. Instead, {3-Diamonds} completed the runout and Guiliano scored the dub.
