While PokerNews is offering live updates from this Main Event, there have been several other side events playing out this past week at the 2021 bestbet Jacksonville Winter Open.

In Event #6: $260 NLH Turbo w/ $50 Bounties, 104 entries created a $17,160 prize pool. That was paid out to the top 13 players, and among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Elsheekh Lagi (13th - $429), Shane Sinnott (12th - $472), Ashkan Izadi (11th - $472), and Shawn Bernier (10th - $472).

In the end, Nebraska's Taylor Howard, who is a Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) champion, defeated Michael Wagner in heads-up play to win the title for $5,235 plus an unknown number of bounties (though we know he got the $50 from Wagner and got to keep his own $50 bounty).

Gonzales Wins At Showdown

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Toby Boas was under the gun and raised to 5,000. He was three-bet to 11,000 by Catherine Gonzales in middle position and action folded back to Boas, who called and then check-called another 11,000 on the flop {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Action checked through the turn {j-Diamonds} and the river came {3-Spades}. Boas placed one 5,000-chip onto the felt and Gonzales studied him for a few moments before placing out two chips of the same denomination in the same manner. Boas took a little to consider his options and eventually decided to look up Gonzales.

Gonzales obliged, showing {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} for aces up and Boas sent his cards to the muck. With the pot, Gonzales now finds herself closing in on a stack of 200,000.

Nick Raio was just spotted with a stack of more than a quarter-million and was kind enough to confirm he had recently chipped up to 280,000, doing so with a string of hands that included him knocking out a player with pocket aces to their ace-queen.

James Calderaro was also just seen behind his mask, having built a wall of chips himself totaling 200,000.

Walters Done and Dusted

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
David Walters
David Walters

David "Bama" Walters was just eliminated from the tournament, stopping by to inform PokerNews of the news. A combination of Walters and tablemates Reed Hart and David Salisbury completed the details, with Salisbury being the one who put the nail in the coffin.

Bets went in on every street and eventually, stacks got in on the turn with a board of {a-}{9-}{x-}{j-} and over 200,000 in the middle.

David Walters: {a-}{j-}
David Salisbury: {a-}{9-}

Salisbury had flopped two pair and Walters turned a higher two pair, but the river came {9-} to re-improve Salisbury to a full house and send Walters to the showers.
