Welcome to Day 1a of the $1,500 Main Event at the bestbet Jacksonville Summer Heater Poker Series. Cards go in the air at 12 p.m. local time for the first of two flights in the flagship event of the series.

Nick Raio was the winner in the previous Main Event in bestbet’s Spring Series, when he came out on top for $60,000 in a five-way deal. No deal was needed in the first event of the Summer Series, as Bobby Tieu dominated the final table and defeated Chater Suphakorn in heads-up play to win the $400 NLH opener.

Players will start with 25,000 in chips and play 40-minute levels. Both opening flights will play until 12.5% percent of the field remains, and all surviving players will return on Sunday for the Day 2 finale at 12 p.m. local time. Day 2’s final table will be broadcast live on bestbetLIVE.

Unlimited entries are available for both flights and registration will be open until the beginning of the 10th level on each day. A 60-minute dinner break is scheduled for the conclusion of Level 9, and 15-minute breaks are scheduled after every three levels. Players may enter the Day 1b flight if they survive Day 1a, and their smaller stack will be removed from play on Day 2.

Be sure to keep it with the PokerNews team all weekend long for live coverage from the floor of the $1,500 Main Event at the bestbet Jacksonville Summer Heater Poker Series.

Zhang Takes From Slay With Turn Bet

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 0 ante

Shortly after taking a small pot with a bet on the flop, Min Zhang clashed with Kelly Slay.

Slay raised to 500 from late position and Zhang called from the button to see {3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{j-Hearts} on the flop. Slay check-called a bet of 800 from Zhang and the turn was {4-Diamonds}.

Slay checked again and Zhang tossed out 2,000. It was too much for Slay and she tossed her hand in the muck to give up the early pot.

Min Zhang raised to 600 from under the gun and Gilbert Monroig called from the button before Raminder Singh came along from the big blind. The flop was {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{a-Spades}.

Singh checked and Zhang continued for 1,200. Monroig tossed his hand in the muck and Singh called to see {2-Clubs} on the turn.

Zhang fired 3,000, but it was too much and Singh got away from it to give Zhang another early pot.

Elkaz Takes With River Bet

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Action was three ways with around 5,000 in the middle and {4-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} on the board when action checked to Maria Elkaz on the button. Elkaz fired 2,200 and a player in the small blind got out of the way before David "Moose" Hughes took a moment to think it over.

After he considered his options, Hughes tossed his hand in the muck to give up the early pot. Elkaz had a great run to 23rd in the opening $400 NLH event and she looks to follow it up this weekend with a strong finish in the Main Event.
