Here are some photos we've taken of players today on Day 2 in the $2,200 Big, Big Kick Off event.
The $1,100 Big, Big One Day: Bankroll Builder event is quite different from the other tournaments in the Big, Big Series at Borgata in Atlantic City.
This one has a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool, but it won't play down to a winner like most tournaments. Instead, 1 out of every 10 players will win $10,000. A quick way to build up your bankroll (hence, the tournament name).
Only 15 players remain in the $2,200 Big, Big Kick Off and longtime crusher Nick Pupillo is holding steady in the chip lead.
Pupillo, who has over $7.1 million in live tournament cashes, is right around 100 big blinds. The tournament, which closed with $1 million in the pot, will play down to a winner late tonight, with the champion taking home $182,000. All players left are guaranteed at least $12,275.
It was obvious earlier that the $100,000 guarantee in the $1,100 Bankroll Builder would be smashed. And now it is official with 107 players already in the field and registration still open.
1 out of every 10 player in this bankroll-building tournament will win $10,000.
Arthur Pappas was eliminated from the $2,200 Big, Big Kick Off event in 21st place with pocket aces.
The best preflop hand in No-Limit Hold'em — A♣A♠ — turned into a nightmare on a 9♣7♣5♣ flop because his opponent, Namit Patel, had K♣4♣ for a flush.
Pappas called off his final 12 big blinds on the flop, but at least he wasn't drawing dead. He had the nut flush draw, but didn't get any help on the turn or river. But he did receive $10,525 on the way out.
Aubrey Williams, who finished runner-up in the WSOP Ladies Championship this summer, was in desperate need of a double-up on Day 2 in the $2,200 Big, Big Kick Off.
She put her short stack in the middle with Ax4x but was looked up by Andrew Chang, who had her crushed with AxQx. No improvement would come on the five community cards, so she was eliminated in 22nd place for $10,525.
