Day 1a of the $5,300 Big, Big Championship has come to an end, with 25 players bagging up their chips for Day 2.

Three BetMGM qualifiers also played today, but only Austen Yueh managed to survive the flight. Yueh finished the day with a healthy stack of 101,500. In one of the final hands of the night, Yueh faced a tough decision but ultimately folded, giving up the pot rather than risk being eliminated or ending up with a small stack before the end of the flight.

Matthew Zambanini finished the night as the chip leader with 235,000, followed by Max Young with 211,000.

The surviving players will return on September 22 for Day 2, where they will continue their battle for a share of the $3,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.

That wraps up the PokerNews highlight blog for today. We'll be back tomorrow with more updates from the Big Big Series.
