Steve Sarmiento Defeats Matt Stout ($4,656)
Matt Stout checked and called a bet of 1,600 on a flop of 
. Both players checked the 
turn, and Stout fired out 2,000 on the 
river. Steve Sarmiento thought for a bit before raising to 5,400. Stout made the call, and Sarmiento showed 
for a flopped straight and turned flush.
Stout was down to 7,600 at that point with blinds at 400-800, and he was eliminated a short time later in a hand we didn't see.
Sarmiento, who won 2-0 to end an undefeated run by Stout, will face Brian Hewitt in the Final Four. Sarmiento will need to end another unbeaten streak, this one 8-0, in order to make the finals.
There's Still Time to Qualify for the $3,500 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship!
The World Poker Tour Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship is just two days away, and for the first time ever PokerNews will be providing live coverage of the tournament straight from the luxurious Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City.
The flagship event on the Borgata Winter Poker Open schedule will run from Jan. 26-31. The tournament features a buy-in of $3,500 with two starting flights and a $3 million guaranteed prize pool. Re-entry will be available on Day 1a for those who are eliminated before Level 6, and players eliminated on Day 1a may also re-enter on Day 1b.
For those on the fence about putting up $3,500 to play, there's still plenty of time to qualify via a satellite tournament. Borgata is hosting several live qualifiers on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, offering players a chance to win a seat to the WPT event for a fraction of the buy-in. Shulman Grabs Lead
Adam Shulman raised to 4,000 after Ernie Lewis fired 1,500 on the end. The board was

Shulman Clawing Back

Joe Stiers Defeats Torrey Korsog ($4,656)
Joseph Stiers came back from a 1-0 deficit to send Torrey Korsog out of the tournament and advance to the Final Four. Stiers eliminated Korsog on a hand where he made a pair of queens with a ten kicker against Korsog's 
for a pair of eights, according to the dealer.
Stiers, who already took second in a Pot-Limit Omaha tournament in this series, will face the winner of the Ernie Lewis/Adam Shulman match.
Brian Hewitt Defeats James Routos ($4,656)
Brian Hewitt and James Routos got all in after a 
flop.
"You have a big pair?" Routos asked.
Hewitt revealed

"Oh, that's a nice hand," Routos said, turning over 
for a pair and an open-ended straight flush draw.
Bricks arrived on the turn and river in the form of 
and , and Hewitt took nearly all of Routos' chips. He finished Routos off a few hands later, and he's the first player to punch a final four ticket, doing so 2-0.
According to a bystander, Hewitt has breezed to eight straight victories.

Leads for Stiers, Stout
Matt Stout, trailing 1-0, leads Steve Sarmiento 27,000-13,000 in game two.
Meanwhile, in the deciding game three, Joseph Stiers has a 26,000-14,000 advantage on Torrey Korsog.

While we were entering the last update, Ernie Lewis took game one against Adam Shulman. The players left the room for a short break.
Stiers Knots it Up
Joseph Stiers raised to 600 on the button, and Torrey Korsog popped it to 1,900. Stiers came back with 4,000, and Korsog pushed all in. Stiers called.

Stiers was in a dominating position, but Korsog flopped outage when 
came down. Two aces completed the board though, and Stiers had Korsog covered. The match is now tied 1-1, and the players immediately started the deciding game.
