Matt Affleck and Fellow Seattle Seahawks Supporter James Routos on Day 1a of the 2014 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open WPT Main Event
Matt Affleck and Fellow Seattle Seahawks Supporter James Routos on Day 1a of the 2014 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open WPT Main Event

Everybody who follows poker knows that Matt Affleck sports Seattle jerseys as a matter of course, and the style choice has become Affleck's signature on the felt.

James Routos, however, is just a football fan proud that his team has advanced to the Super Bowl, and he showed up here today wearing a Marshawn Lynch jersey in support of the Seahawks.

Affleck went old-school with his choice of attire - donning the duds of Seahawk legend Steve Largent in a throwback to the team's past playoff success - one night after winning the Six-Max event here for an $88,643 score.

Seated across the table from Routos, the sight of Affleck and his doppleganger playing together was something to behold, but unfortunately for Routos the table talk about their team's chances this Sunday will have to wait.

Routos was just seen at the registration desk firing away for his second bullet, which means he went bust at Affleck's table sometime during the fourth level of play. Affleck, meanwhile, sits just under the starting stack as he looks to make it back-to-back wins here at the Borgata Winter Poker Open.

Hernandez Outflops D'Angelo

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante
Ryan D'Angelo, shown here in an earlier event.
Ryan D'Angelo, shown here in an earlier event.

A player under the gun opened for 500, and Ryan D'Angelo bumped it to 1,400. Laz Hernandez cold-called from late position, and the original raiser called as well.

The three took in a flop of {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{q-Hearts}. After a check, D'Angelo fired 10,600. Hernandez jammed for 28,250 more, and the player under the gun folded. D'Angelo called.

D'Angelo: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Hernandez: {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

D'Angelo found himself outflopped, but a {2-Hearts} on the turn increased his outage. It was Hernandez who improved on the river when the {9-Spades} fell, though, and he took the pot with a full house.

Selbst's First Bullet Missing its Mark

Vanessa Selbst on Day 1a of the 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open WPT Main Event
Vanessa Selbst on Day 1a of the 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open WPT Main Event

Vanessa Selbst did not appear to be very pleased despite dragging a smallish pot her way, and a quick scan of her stack showed why.

None of her baby blue T5000 chips could be found, and an opponent to her right appeared to be the recipient. Selbst and the other player were seen discussing the previous hand that likely resulted in her stack being carved up, and Selbst - notoriously serious and focused while on the felt - did not appear to be enjoying the conversation.

Nonetheless, Selbst took down an additional 900 when she bet out with the board reading {6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Despite the small win, Selbst still has about one-third of her starting stack.

Rheem Busted

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante
Chino Rheem busted an early bullet.
Chino Rheem busted an early bullet.

Chino Rheem checked back the {4-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{7-Spades} flop in position against a lone opponent. Both were in early position. Rheem's opponent checked the {8-Spades} on the turn, and he then called Rheem's 1,350 bet. A {3-Diamonds} completed the board, and the first player checked a final time. Rheem tossed his entire 7,150 stack in the middle, and his opponent called fairly quickly. Rheem just pointed at him, indicating he had the winner, and the player turned over the {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Rheem mucked his hand and quickly left the table.

Anthony Zinno Pays Corrie Wunstel Off

Anthony Zinno on Day 1a of the 2014 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Main Event
Anthony Zinno on Day 1a of the 2014 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Main Event

With the board reading {5-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} by the river, and a sizable pot already up for grabs, Anthony Zinno checked over to Corrie Wunstel.

Zinno - who took down the 2013 WPT Borgata Poker Open Main Event for $825,099 - watched as Wunstel fired out a 10,000 bet, and he went deep into the tank to figure things out.

Eventually, Zinno mentioned something about ace-jack under his breath, before shrugging and making the crying call. Wunstel had no aces or jacks in hand, however, and his {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} took down the large pot.
