Robert Brobyn Finds Biggest Stack on Day 1b in BFPO Championship

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Robert Brobyn
Robert Brobyn

The second flight of Event #17: $2,700 Championship has now come to an end after eight exhilarating levels of play. A total of 98 entry slips were sold, with just 43 remaining by the end of the night and of those it was Robert Brobyn finding the largest stack.

Brobyn floated above average for most of the day and slowly built himself a relevant stack towards the end of the night. He took that stack and almost doubled it during the last 20-minutes of the day when he turned a nut-flush against his opponents flopped two pair. That hand catapulted him over the 200,000 mark first of anyone in this flight and he ended up finishing with 210,100, which was good for the lead.

Anna Antimony went on a heater late in the day, almost surpassing Brobyn for the lead as she bagged 209,000, giving her a stack that is second overall so far after two flights. Other notable stacks that advanced include Chris Coward (171,800), Peter Walsworth (169,800), Joseph Gambino (163,000), and John Lytle (159,500).

Many familiar faces secured a Day 2 birth and that list includes the likes of Andrew Ostapchenko (152,600), Justin Adams (146,200), Gilberto Taveras-Garcia (137,400), Ryan Eriquezzo (71,200), Kenny Huynh (69,900), and Alex Jim (38,100).

The survivors from this flight will combine with the two other Day 1 players that and will be returning on Tuesday, November 19 to fight it out for another eight levels of play, ending after level 16. The tournament will bump the blinds up to 75-minutes in length after level 10 and the last two days will have 90-minute levels.

That wraps it up for the PokerNews live coverage of Day 1b, but tune in tomorrow for Day 1c.

Walsworth Continues His Heater

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Peter Walsworth
Peter Walsworth

Peter Walsworth opened to 1,100 and an opponent three-bet him to 3,400. Walsworth reached for chips and then pushed in a four-bet of 9,700 total, his opponent called.

The dealer fanned out {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} on the flop, Walsworth continued for 6,700 and his opponent moved all in for 31,300. Walsworth snap-called and the two tabled their hands.

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Peter Walsworth: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}

The {k-Diamonds} turn card had Walsworth's opponent drawing dead to the {j-Clubs} river as they were eliminated, sending the pot to Walsworth.

Antimony Arrives

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante
Anna Antimony
Anna Antimony

Anna Antimony is making her BFPO debut today and is off to a strong start, more than tripling her starting stack.

She has three Borgata titles, which puts her in a three-way tie for most wins at Borgata by a woman, but she's won a couple of the toughest events. In the 2017 Borgata Poker Open, she won the $1,090 SixMax NLH event and more than $58,000. During last year's Fall Poker Open, she topped a field of 1,073 entrants to win the $450 Almighty Stack NLH event.

Her lifetime earnings are more than $678,000 and that's been accumulated in only about eleven years.

The flagship tournament of the 2019 Borgata Fall Poker Open, the $1 Million Guaranteed $2,700 Championship NLH event, continues today at 11 a.m. with the second of three starting flights.

Here's the remaining daily schedule for the Championship:
Flight B - 11 a.m. Sunday, November 17th
Flight C - 11 a.m. Monday, November 18th
Day 2 - 12 noon Tuesday, November 19th
Day 3 - 12 noon Wednesday, November 20th
Day 4 - 2 p.m. Thursday, November 21th

Players start with 40,000 in tournament chips and late registration and re-entries will remain open through the break at the end of Level 10. Levels 1-10 are 60 minutes each, while Levels 11-16 will last 75 minutes. Days 3 and 4 will see the levels go up to 90 minutes. All Day 1 flights will play a total of eight levels, which means registration remains open two levels into Day 2.

This is also a best stack forward event, which means players do not automatically forfeit bagged chips if they play a subsequent flight. Any player who bags more than once will take their biggest stack into Day 2.
