Since he won the 2017 World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open Championship event and more than $789,000, we've seen a lot more of Guo Liang Chen in the tournaments here. He took third place in the 2018 Summer Poker Open Tournament of Champions Freeroll, earning another $8,000. That was a tough field — an invitational freeroll made up of former Open Series Champions.
Seated next to Chen is Valerie Novak, who we only get to see for the biggest events. She made the final table of this event back in 2016, finishing 9th for $23,717 (her best live cash).
The random seating process has landed these two next to each other and despite the big disparity in their poker histories, they've both found success at Borgata.
Ken Barkoff put on a commanding performance at the final table of Event #11: $400 Almighty Stack NLH a few days go, claiming first place and $86,364 in a three-way deal in that $300,000 GTD event.
His payout was just about $1,000 shy of the $87,443 first-place prize that Soukha Kachittavong claimed in the seven-way deal that concluded the $500,000 GTD Kick-Off Event.

Bruce Yamron and Jordan Ludwick are spending their time between hands discussing sports betting.
New Jersey legalized sports betting this year, Borgata opened their Sports Book back in the Spring, then this Summer debuted the new Moneyline Bar & Book. Right across the aisle from the Poker Room, Moneyline features a 40-foot wide LED video wall and interactive gaming kiosks.
For those too busy to walk over and place a bet at the windows or kiosks, there's also online sports betting. Check out https://www.oddschecker.com/us/free-bets/borgata to see how you can bet online and get a risk-free sports bet!
Xiang "Alex" Lin has jumped out to an early chip lead, playing about 170,000 before the second break of the flight.
In just the last two years, Lin has posted nearly $100,000 in tournament earnings, including a win in the 2018 Borgata Summer Poker Open $300 Deepstack NLH event for $19,269.
He's got a tough table, though. He's seated with Jon Borenstein on his immediate left and Brian Altman a few seats further down.
