Defending Seniors Champion

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante
Paul Dellauniversita
Paul Dellauniversita

Cards are in the air for the $340 Seniors NLH event, playing here in the back of the Poker Room.

Last Fall, the Seniors event drew 135 entries for a total prize pool of $39,285. After playing for about 14 hours, the final five players decided to call it a night and carve up the remaining prize pool based on ICM numbers.

Paul “Della” Dellauniversita was the chip leader and took first place and $7,422, along with his first Borgata Open trophy.

Of course we expect to see many of our regulars turn out for today's Seniors event, but we also have Event #9: $230 Deeper Stack NLH coming up at noon, which will split today's attendance on a busy football Sunday.

Borgata's Most Senior Senior

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Attilio Bitondo
Attilio Bitondo

Attilio Bitondo is Borgata's eldest statesman and he continues to play at the age of 91, making him the most senior player in the Senior's event.

A short while ago, he was in a three-way pot with a board of {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. Seat 2 (bb) bet, Bitondo raised to 5,000 straight, Seat 10 (button) called, and Seat 2 tossed his hand in the muck.

Heads-up to the {7-Spades} river, Bitondo thought about it before checking over to his lone opponent, who fired 8,700. Bitondo took the time to count out the call, count his remaining chips (about 15,000) and ponder his action.

"I'm gonna let you have it," he said, releasing his cards to the dealer. No cards were shown as the pot was pushed to Seat 10.

Bitondo survived that encounter, but not much longer. He was seen re-entering recently and has landed back at the same table in the same seat as he previously occupied.
