"cuser24" Wins the 2020 Borgata Spring Poker Open Online Series Event #1: Phased $100K GTD NLH For $23,674

On Sunday, Day 2 of the $215 buy-in Event #1: Phased $100K GTD NLH for the Borgata’s Spring Poker Open Online Series officially crowned its champion as "cuser24" overcame a 5:1 chip disadvantage to defeat "Core4" in heads-up play to take a $23,674 first-place prize.

The head-up match was an uphill battle for "cuser24" as he held 5,844,855 in chips compared to the 25,468,270 chip stack for "Core4." Although "Core4" held a huge chip advantage, it wouldn't detain "cuser24" from adding chips as they got an early double-up to level the playing field.

Once the chip stacks were close to even, "Core4" chipped away at "cuser24" until they had to win a flip to level the playing field once again. From there, "cuser24" went on a hot streak until they held the 4:1 chip advantage leaving "Core4" no choice but to move their remaining stack in holding ace-eight that came up short to"curse24" made hand of sixes.

Final Day Action

The week-long event saw a total of eight starting flights attract 633 entries which generated a $126,600 prize pool. From the 633 total entries, only 162 players advanced to the final day and 54 of them would make it into the money.

Among those that advanced to Day 2 but fell short of making the money were Daniel “centrfieldr23” Lupo, BorgataPoker.com Sponsored Pro Katie "KatieStone" Stone, Ryan “TheSims” Hohner, Anthony "Flawlessbinkage” Maio, and Ari “spinach_kale” Engel.

Players were dropping like flies all the way up until the money was reached and continued to fall once players were in the money.

Continuing at a rapid place, eliminations dropped one-by-one which included BorgataPoker.com Sponsored Pros Daniel "leinad" Buzgon who fell in 49th place ($569.70) and Michael "Gags30" Gagliano ( 44th - $633), Jonathan "jetsfan411" Borenstein (25th - 886.20), Dave "Davealfa" Alfa (23rd - $1,012.80), and Dan "mj23style" Swenig (11th - $1,772.40).

Final Table Action

Once the final table was reached, it took two full levels before the first casualty happened after "HodorHodorHodor" was caught in a cooler situation holding their inferior ladies to "cuser24's" rockets.

The very same level would see another cooler hand when "UFOLDIWIN" got their remaining chips in the middle after flopping top two-pair holding ace-jack suited only to be turned by "suprementy" holding ace-queen offsuit.

"jacksonterman" would be the next player to leave the virtual felt after they got their short-stack in the middle after flopping bottom pair but it was no good as "Core4" flopped top-pair sending "jacksonterman" out in seventh place.

Next on the chopping block was "KNIEM7," who got their short-stack in the middle holding king-nine offsuit and was called by "CreateReality" in the big blind holding a suited ten-three. Unfortunately, it just wasn't "KNIEM7's" day as "CreateReality" flopped two-pair to send "KNIEM7" out in sixth place ($5,004).

Shortly after, "CreateReality" got the boot after they got their remaining stack in the middle holding a suited ace-five only to run into the ace-queen of "Core4" sending "CreateReality" out in fifth place ($6,394).

The next two eliminations happened in short succession after "pay4medsch00l" fell in fourth place ($8,228.80) holding a suited ace-three, while "suprementy's" cowboys got cracked by "Core4's" pocket threes.

Once the heads-up match was set, it took less than two full level for "cuser24" to climb uphill and send "Core4" out the door in second place ($15,568).
