Tirone Out-Kicks Phillips to Climb

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The turned board read {q-Hearts}{j-Spades}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and there was around 40,000 in the pot. Carmine Tirone fired in 15,000 and it was quickly called by Charles Phillips.

An {8-Spades} completed the board, both players checked and Tirone showed {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for two pair with an ace kicker. Phillips showed the {j-Hearts} and mucked his other card, sending the pot to Tirone.

Vanhulle Eliminates Maio

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

We caught up to the three handed action on the {q-Spades}{8-Clubs}[2] flop. Anthony Maio checked and the player in early position bet 20,000 into a main pot of about 35,000.

Benny Vanhulle raised to 60,000 and Anthony Maio check-raised all in for 187,500. After giving it plenty of thought Vanhulle called turning over {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and Maio would need to improve with {a-Spades}{6-Spades}.

The turn {10-Hearts} and river {9-Clubs} were no help to Maio and he was sent to the rail.
