The seventeen levels that were on the schedule for Day 1c of Event #13: $400 Almighty Stack have come to an end with 283 players making it through to Day 2 on Friday, January 24. During the first twelve levels of the day, 1,140 entries were collected to get the tournament on the way to surpassing the whopping $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Claiming the Day 1c chip lead is Yefim Vakser with 1,587,000 in chips. Other players to have bagged above the 1,000,000-mark include Christine Kime (1,470,000), Nikolay Volper (1,304,000), Samuel Preis (1,050,000), Greg Fretz and Ci Zhou (1,034,000 each), and Pierre Deisler with 1,029,000.

The remaining players will combine with the survivors from Day 1a (174) and 1b (111), and whoever gets past the obstacles Day 1d brought them to play down to the final 18 players for Day 3 of this event. The prize pool details will be announced at the start of Day 2.

When the players return at noon local time, they will resume play with Level 18 which features a small blind of 6,000, big blind of 12,000, and a big blind ante of 12,000. Level duration will be increased to 45 minutes each with a break likely to take place after every three levels.

The full chip counts and seat draw for Day 2 will be posted before the start of play and the PokerNews live reporting team will be there to bring you all the action from the Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa Event Center here in Atlantic City.

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Christine Kim was celebrating as she made the right call. Her opponent on her right had shoved and she called. They both held pocket queens but Kim hit the flush to eliminate her opponent and propel her towards the top of the chip counts.

Vakser Felts Two, Takes the Lead

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Yefim Vakser

Christine Kim has gone on a rush and is up to 1.1 million as they approach the bag & tag.

Way over on table 1, Lee Kirsch got his last ~150,000 in, got called by Yefim Vasker, then another short-stack in Seat 5 moved in for less and the hands were tabled:

Kirsch: {k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Vasker: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Seat 5: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}

Board: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}

Vasker paired his King on the flop and no one could catch him after that. He felted both opponents and chipped up to 1,450,000, good for the chip lead heading into the final three hands of the night.

Albert Nguyen shoved from the button for 120,000 and was called by Christine Kim in the small blind while the big blind folded.

Albert Nguyen: {q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Christine Kim: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {10-Spades}{j-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{a-Clubs} for Kim to with the higher hole cards and even improve to two pair on the river to send Nguyen on to Day 1d if he wants to try again.
