More Cheese for Marchese

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Charlie Marchese
Charlie Marchese

Charlie Marchese played yesterday's Event #7: $340 Seniors NLH and after 13 hours, the final six players decided to call it a night and cut an ICM deal for the remaining prize pool. Marchese took third place and $7,088, which will push his lifetime earnings past the $619,000 mark.

Despite the long day of play yesterday, he's back here less than 12 hours later, on the felt playing the Deepest Stack Double Header. When you're on a roll, you've got to keep your foot on the pedal!

On the turn with a board of {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, Paulie "the Roofer" Georges got all his chips in the middle against Joe DeSanto, who had {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the flush draw with gutshot.

The {q-Hearts} river card completed the straight for DeSanto and he collected the pot, sending Georges to the rail.

The 2020 Borgata Winter Poker Open continues today with Event #10: $300 Deepest Stack Double Header NLH, which offers a $200,000 Guarantee and will feature two starting flights. Flight A will get underway at 11 a.m. local time while Flight B will start at 5 p.m.

Each flight will consist of 16 levels on Day 1, after which remaining players will bag their chips for the night. The survivors from both flights will return for Day 2 at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 21, to play down to a winner.

Players will start with 40,000 in tournament chips and levels will last 30 minutes throughout. Late registration and re-entry will remain open through the end of the break after Level 12 (about 5:45 p.m.).

Last year, this tournament cruised by its $200,000 guarantee by drawing 1,129 runners, which generated a $244,734 prize pool. A heads-up deal was struck that saw Borgata regular Ralph Macri claim the BWPO trophy and $50,000 in prize money.
