Dannenmann Makes an Appearance

Level 10 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Steven Dannenmann
Steven Dannenmann

There was a blast from the past in the Borgata as Steve Dannenmann was spotted in the field on Day 1b.

Dannenmann is of course known by the poker world for his memorable run to the WSOP Main Event final table in 2005 and making it all the way to heads-up where he would ultimately finish runner-up to Joe Hachem.

Since his $4.2 million burst onto the scene score back in 2005, Dannemann has had some scattered results, many of them coming right here in Atlantic City.

The Maryland native will have to wait for his next cash though as he was seen leaving the room after being busted in the previous level.

Stroke Misreads Hand

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Action was on the river as the board read {6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{k-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}. John Barker bet 5,000 on the river from the small blind into a pot of about 15,000. Shawn Stroke thought for a decent amount of time before calling.

Barker said "you win" and tabled the {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for ace-high. Stroke turned over his hand which was the {q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for queen high which he quickly realized was not what he thought as he claimed he thought he had queen-six and Barker took in an unexpected pot.
