All the Eights at Table 33

Level 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Dan Zack was out of position in a three-way pot on a flop of {7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

Zack bet 2,500 on the flop and only one opponent called. Zack then checked on the {q-Spades} turn and his opponent bet 6,000. Zack called. Zack checked again on the {j-Diamonds} river and his opponent checked back.

"Eights," the opponent said.

Somewhat confusingly, Zack then flipped over {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}. But the opponent wasn't psychic as he then flipped over {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} to reveal he had been referring to his own hand.

"All the eights!" the opponent laughed as they chopped the pot.

"You said eights. I thought you were guessing what I had!" laughed Zack.

Shankar Pillai
Shankar Pillai

Shankar Pillai was all in for about 7,000 against two players who had him covered, including Joseph Umdenstock.

Umdenstock checked on the flop of {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and the third player in the hand bet 3,000. Umdenstock called. Umdenstock checked again on the {k-Diamonds} turn and his opponent checked back.

Umdenstock checked a third time on the {6-Hearts} river and his opponent again bet 3,000. Umdenstock called. The opponent showed {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}, which was no good against the {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} of Umdenstock. Pillai, meanwhile, showed {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} to lose the main pot and be sent to the rail.

Verderamo Backdoors Better Flush to Double Through Lonis

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Jesse Lonis
Jesse Lonis

In a three-way pot on a board reading {a-Clubs}{4-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, Nicholas Verderamo bet 5,000 from the small blind and Chance Kornuth folded in middle position. Jesse Lonis raised all in on the button and Verderamo quickly called with a smallers stack.

Lonis showed {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a runner-runner flush, but it was no good against the superior runner-runner flush of Verderamo with {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}.

"Wow. Backdoor-backdoor," a player at the table exclaimed.

Wheaton Cracks Kings to Felt Simpson

Level 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Tom Wheaton
Tom Wheaton

Solve for Why's Conrad Simpson was seen hitting the rail after getting his kings cracked by the queens of Tom Wheaton to his left.

The board showed {k-Spades}{j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} for Simpson's set of kings with {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} to be no good against the Broadway straight of Wheaton with {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}.

"You were drawing thin there!" table mate George Abi-Zeid laughed to Wheaton.

"I think the hand played itself," replied the Faded Spade and Above the Felt Entertainment founder.
